The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

Are all the people who get the frame rate bombing in the ice bits using custom configs because my GTS with mostly high with a few mediums flew through it barely any differently from the rest of the game.

Im trying to be careful not too read any spoilers in this thread but thats almost inevitable. So sorry if this has been asked before, but how would my system cope with running the game with settings on high?

AMD 4400+ X2 with 1mb cache per core - Stock speed
512MB X1900XT
2GB ram (dual channel) - 200mhz bus speed
WD Raptor HDD

My monitors native resolution is 1280*1024 but I could compromise and play Crysis at 1024*768. Some AA / multi-samping would be nice.

Will my system hack that? I wouldnt be happy with any extend periods (30 seconds or more) with 20 FPS or less. Generally I would like 30+ and to enjoy the settings at high for a more rounded gaming experience. Is this going to happen or should I hold out for a while and upgrade my system to a next gen DX10 card?

It's playable on high at higher resolution (1680x1050) no AA, jerky on the snowy mountain. Same spec PC. I'd overclock your CPU and videocard though.

I played the game same as your res (1680x1050) with an e6300 @ 2.8 and 2gb ocz xtc ram at 4-4-4-12. My GPU is an x1900xtx running at stock speeds. How can you play at high settings at that res? All my settings are on medium with no AA, and i get an average of 20-30 fps. Bossfight was quite difficult for me, I was averaging around 12 fps. lol.

My X1900xtx could only manage medium settings and no AA on 1028x1024. Had to go down to low for the flying level and the end boss.

Weird, i seem to have got the opposite to most people.

Playing at 1280x1024 (no aa) struggled in the jungle on all high, till i turned shadows and sound to low. The boss carrier battles and snow were fine on high.

Oh yeah to the guy who was having the TAC gun problem, what i had to is when she shouts "now nomad" or whatever select you TAC gun and point at the side cannon and a locking progress bar should come up, however should this not open, select a different weapon and then re select the TAC gun and it worked for me. Strange, dunno if it's a glitch or something but there you go.

Hi Ninjabib, I did have the problem with TAC gun. Selecting different weapons did not help.

I would say that if anyone is having this problem with the TAC gun not locking on, load up the save which was made at a checkpoint just after you defeated the alker on the carrier and befor ethe final boss rises from the sea.

I'd be amazed if that's playable. I've got similar spec (x2 4600, 2gb RAM, 512mb x1900xt) and while Medium is silky smooth throughout at 1680x1050 with no AA, High is hugely jerky.

Is your 1900XT overclocked?
Granted it's not 60fps constant, but perhaps because it's a "stealthy" shooter you don't go running into firefights, so 20-25fps is fine.

hmm ok. im sure this has been answered, but i dont want to make a new thread, or go through 35+ pages of this one.

is it possible to just start the game from a level? for example the start of the level assault is awesome, but if you say to start a new game, it literally starts a brand new game. is it like the old farcry and am i missing something? thanks

I don't think you can, other than loading a save game. It's annoying and you're right same happend with Far Cry, they will prob patch Crysis to give a level selector like they did with Far Cry iirc.

If you have a save on the assualt level, load it, then i'm pretty sure there's an option to restart the entire level.

ah clever. still anoying though. my mate is coming over and i plan on showing him the best parts of the game. those being the intro to assault, onslaught, exodus, and maybe the final boss fight

It's probably a memory issue. Guys with 512Mb or less will need to reduce res/settings or suffer pauses/stuttering as the textures are swapped in and out of vram.

In the later levels, Crysis on high settings uses 600~700Mbs of video memory (without AA) on my rig.

So... wonder if this 7 to 14 day patch is actually going to be here by the weekend?

Not in any rush for one myself. Finished the game, and too busy on all the MP games I have, but interesting to see if they follow through or not.

Once you've played through the game, you can restart from any of the game's checkpoints, which includes the beginning of each level. Obviously, you'll have the same weapons and damage as you did when first playing through. Just go to 'load game' and select the checkpoint you want.
