I don't think many people are freaking out, sure it might seem like that if you follow culture war screechers on either side but I reckon most users aren't that fussed.

I think there is a fair amount of skepticism towards his motives though, anyone buying into the idea that he cares about free speech is in cloud cuckooo land.

I wouldn’t call anti immigration the preserve of a fruit loop. The other stuff however, is. Although I’m sure there are quite a lot of nazi’s in Ukraine

Yup, they are awful places full of very bizarre people. They champion free speech but will quickly ban any dissenting views.

IIRC facebook lost a lot of value when they had to bring in easier privacy/data control options, and when I believe apple made changes to how much data the app could slurp up.

Also, Facebook definitely listens to your conversations, even when you turn the microphone permissions off.

Have tested it and it will often give me ads based on exactly what I've been talking about near it (but never searched for at all). Have deleted/disabled.

Absolutely I'm sceptical about this.

Elon Musk was told he could likely solve World famine for a year with $6.6 billion.


I don't know how accurate that was but lets say they were way off and it would take double that ($13.2 billion)

He's just spent almost 4x times that amount of money on a social media platform, to supposedly protect free speech? Hmmmm

Mr. Musk apparently supports the free utterance of views anathema to some of the more left leaning elements of society, and as such they believe both Musk and any platform he owns should be ostracised and those that disagree with this stance be denied any large social platform.

Avforums political discussion sections are a UK based example of how anti free speech platforms operate, any dissenters from a hard left stance are bullied, mocked, cajoled and if that fails, banned.

That forum was quite politically balanced until the break up of Digital Spy saw a hard left infiltration from there, who slowly drove out any contrary view points until it effectively became another enforced leftist only meeting hall.

Musk appears to want to address the claimed imbalance in moderation on Twitter, and those used to using strong arm, (and moderation supported), tactics against those of different political persuasion are having hissy fits that a balance may be about to be returned under his ownership.

Tbh, that’s why Bill Gates will always be in a different league to Musk.

He actually uses his money to save and improve the lives of the worlds poorest, unlike Musk, who uses it to boost his own ego.

That was the point though - it wasn't solving world hunger, it was just buying a tonne of food for hungry people for a single year. That isn't solving world hunger, it is just prolonging it.
 
Free Speech Absolutist, now people can go on there and say "x and y want to kill/rape z" and nothing would happen?

To the smart person it is. To the ill-informed is dangerous as they follow his words to a T. To the very smart is scary what it can do.
 
Also it's quite hilarious to see some of these "OSINT" accounts crying.

Pro Ukraine apparently means its ok to hate all thing Russians and revel in the death of innocent people who are on the opposite side.

How quickly peoples so called moral values dissappear.

Also I don't understand how people resort to hating someone for just having a different view from them on one topic.

Speaks volumes about there character.

The west has enough trouble with their own self sufficiency as the current energy situation amply displays, without encouraging population growth in Africa beyond the populations and lands ability to maintain even the existing population level by sending food.

A natural balance needs to exist, not an unnatural one supported by a probably transitory display of support.
