This Ye vs Jew stuff has bought out the anti semitic poster out in full force on Twitter. "It can't be anti semitic if its true!" Even the comments on a Daily Mail tweet are full of it.
what's that got to do with Musk buying twitter? Surely if you want to discuss ol Ye you should make a new thread?

Being held "legally responsible" simply for typing or saying words isn't free speech, why do you think it is?
I should have said there is technically no free speech in the most pure form.

Though in the US, in theory, had the most free speech as at one time you could say anything about anybody. Though in recent years this is being challenged with all the hate speech ideology.

If you make a death threat against someone online then you should be able to do that. But you should also be accountable for it as it is against the law. When I say accountable I mean you should be prepared to defend it if challenged.

Twitter isn't legally responsible for anything on its website because it has the protection of section 230. In my view they should add a requirement that if any law enforcement should request details of data of someone who is posting illegal material then the social media companies should be required to comply with the request within a set amount of days or be fined.

The problem we have today by these social media companies, as well as the banks and payment systems, are blocking legal speech that isn't breaking any law.

I'm not sure you even know what you're asking for. Who from law enforcement? To enforce what? To whose benefit?

Those companies can move away then.

Another company will fill their shoes.

This is the free market.

Tell Elon that because he sent out a note to advertisers in an attempt to put their minds at ease that their products wouldn't be harmed because he's not going to allow Twitter to become a hellhole.

You do realise the companies that don't care what content is next to their products aren't going to pay the same as the ones that do? Why would they pay the same rates when the market is massively reduced by companies leaving Twitter? So Twitter ad revenue would drop dramatically.

Well he was banned from Twitter for his comments and Musk said he'd be allowed back, though Musk said he'd already been allowed back. This thread is also about Twitter is it not? Other users banned by Twitter have been discussed on here.

If someone makes a death threat via twitter, which is against the Communications Act 2003, don't you want them to be held accountable?

You're now for free speech?
You're conflating two things. But law enforcement having free and unfettered access to private platforms to prosecute has been a contentious topic for decades. Remember Mega.com?

He actually said the account was reactivated before he completed the purchase, but it seems to me that you want to make it a more political topic otherwise why would you be bringing up the DeSantis stuff?

Musks idea of free speech, which means anything goes will not be tolerated in most western countries.

Uk and the EU have their own laws and if twitter thinks racist and anti Semitic posts are fair game then they will be warned and hit with huge fines. if they continue after that the county will shut it down.

That ye guy trump and anyone else may very well see Twitter in a lot of trouble if Musk lets them post anything they want.

'anything goes' like what? or is that more hyperbole

Where did I mention DeSantis? Oh one of the tweets mentions DeSantis was at a stadium where the message was displayed. I hadn't noticed tbh, my post was about the message being displayed, not the fact a politician was there. I doubt DeSentis had that message put up.

I stumbled onto some Qatar football chat earlier (no idea how, algorithm must be broken) - but it was full of people using the phrase "cognitive dissonance". Is this a new phrase that head honcho has trained out to the minions?

Just find it odd that you haven't commented on anything to do with Kanye going down this particular rabbit hole until now, also you didnt notice the tweet mentioned DeSantis? Pull the other one lol
Righty whiners just want to be able to spread their lies in peace. Also whine about cancel culture yet Trump cult was a huge cancel tard, constantly trying to cancel anyone who opposes the cult.
