The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

There is now way IMO Musk has the emotional intelligence to fix twitter, look at his tweets, he may be (arguably) hyper-intelligent, but he's got the emotional intelligence of a 10 year old.

Twitter has been so badly broken for a long time, namely it does nothing to stop hateful speech across the board, they are fine with people being complete a-holes to each other, they just arbitrarily have constructed a hierachy of protected groups and only police things based on that.
Piled on top is this insidious political leaning and enforcement that seems solely driven from left wing politics.

I hate the orange man as much as the next person, but it’s obvious what agenda is being pushed, how many more videos do you need to see how all the main left wing politicians claiming illegitimate ‘ stolen election results, or direct calls to violence to see how Trumps extremely soft version of it being unnaturally amplified with a clear political motive that ended with his ban.

At least with Twitter if it died that might be a blessing and I have zero faith that Musk can actually take free speech in irs rawest form, but there is a glimmer of hope, he seems to realise this already and I did chuckle when suddenly the PoTUS account is being fact-checked.. Nothing wrong with fact checking, but you have to be very careful not to throw in political bias.

Can you expand on what you mean? Which videos? Which left wing politicians are posting direct calls to violence?

Obviously 'context' is everything here, but you can't only apply that selectively because if you do, you can easily come up with the above videos..

The polnt was in my original post about can Twitter be 'fixed'.. I don't think it can.. the way it's founded and the advertising money (and political leaning of it with the claims to withdraw if Trump returns) to me makes it inevitable it'll fail.

It's just the classic right wing conspiracy theory that all 'mainstream Media outlets' have a bias to the left, it's quite funny really how people see things differently or how easily they are lead to believe things that are demonstrably not true.

Not sure Twitter needs a whole lot of "fixing". This so called political leaning is mostly in your head.

I think it was more the outrage after the MAGA loons stormed congress and connecting that with some heated rhetoric that did it rather than simply voicing the opinion that the results were wrong and filing legal challenges. It's not like he planned it or anything though, it's not much different to various media outlets and other political commentators or indeed politicians stirring up racial tension with BLM stuff etc.. which in turn results in parts of major cities being trashed, burned, people being injured or killed etc. In both cases, they're not being responsible, they're chasing outrage, clicks, support etc. I suspect there is a reasonable chance he is going to be allowed back, Elon probably won't want the platform to be quite so partisan, especially if he becomes a presidential candidate again - it just doesn't seem feasible, in terms of Elon's general plans for it, to give one candidate free reign on a major platform and ban the other one.

The problem is Jan 6th has become some sort of holy cow over there, after all the resources poured into investigating it all the FBI has found is some coordination among militia loons yet it was treated like it was some sort of coup attempt. Could just as easily link that sort of rhetoric to things like MAGA types getting attacked, BLM/Antifa rioting etc. I think it's irresponsible from both sides tbh. but very inconsistent/hypocritical to just clamp down on one side.

The frightening part I'm finding is what they're watching and viewing. I never find this stuff except what they post here.

Given he's on the spectrum, i do wonder how much of it is his followers filling that void of IRL genuine friends, which i imagine he struggled with a lot when younger, and he now plays up to his internet friends to get that "friendship" hence his odd posts and Twitter "thinking" - i mean, no sane businessman would buy a massive corp because of comments on their socials but that seems to have been the case with Musk and Twitter.

Some form of subscription was always on the cards given the overspend purchasing Twitter but, it will be interesting to see how many of the 290/300K verified accounts stump up for it.

"Here's the repo(s), have a gander at my commits". Printing code would get me questioning the companies security practices to be honest, let alone it being wasteful.
