The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

dammit I missed that. Its well done though as it reads just like a Trump tweet.
Exactly as I said earlier. The reason the parody exists of trump and not Biden, is because its a tweet trump does make.

He's creating an "us v.s them" situation, blaming others for his own failures, cresting the boogy man so low iq people can start sharing it on social sites and forums.

It's totally trumps style and Elon has done it

Will it?

Buying a blue tick will be open to all plebs and just because you have one for free today doesn't mean you want to pay for one especially after what it means changes.
yes thats the correct figure, its been confirmed 300 thousand have subscribed, its 2.4 million not 2.8

I'd do it for the right money, but we're talking 6 figures here
.
but it would have to be mid to high 6 figures with RSUs making it 7 figures.

For big US tech companies, you get 200-250k a year working 50hours a week. An 80 hour a week and you were exceptional enough then companies like Netflix would pay 350-500k a year with double that in stocks.

No need to sleep at the Twitter office to keep your job. If you haven't been fired in the first round you likely can walk in to any tech job at 200-250k at 50 hours a week

Read this morning about employees logging on and then seeing their laptop had been remotely wiped. Really **** way to tell your employees.

Can you imagine if in less than a year Twitter was valued at less than $1bn. That'll be a very costly gamble for musk.

this is essentially guaranteed as far as i can seem Musk appears utterly clueless, zero plan on what to do and everything he has suggested and indeed enacted will be horrific for the platform and fail.

If he wants to change the model he will need staff, not fire half of them. He will need advertising money more than ever. This nonsense about people paying just to destroy to value of verified users.

The whole thing is madness

Which begs me to ask, what were they trying to achieve by causing advertisers to come away from Twitter?
Because if they really love/care/value the platform, why try to destroy it more? Have they written off Twitter, and are now just happier if it went away forever?
I am confused.

advertisers just need a platform. Twitter Is entirely inconsequential. If Twitter dies then people will spend time on other platforms like Facebook,TikTok, youtube. The risk of advertising on Twitter right now is too high until Musk can prove the moderation is unchanged. If Musk relaxes the rules the more advertisers will leave

It's not just the moderation. It's the total image twitter has, which is completely aligned to Elon right now.

When Elon uses twitter to spread conspiracy and trolls politicians of one side, that's twitter that is doing that.

Twitter could stay exactly as it is with moderation and never change, but when the boss trolls, tells people the equivalent of "eat less avacado on toast to afford the £8 per month", advertisers will leave.

Hmm.

It does feel like he might be about to completely Truss things up. But, we shall see.

The numbers are in they will fluctuate slightly but not by much.

The 8 dollar blue tick thing will bring him 2.8 million a month . Sounds a lot but Musk is 60 billion in the red for this one. its not even close to enough.

Advertising will go way down too as some big companies withdraw advertising.

So his 43 billion will be almost impossible to get back.

His little I'm gonna buy twitter joke has backfired on him big time.

Hes a despicable person. There is a video of a guy who got fired going round with the way he got fired, it's literally a Photo printed on A4 paper with him laughing and a big caption saying "your Fired"
Apparently a lot of employees got it.

I'm a bit sceptical but I wouldn't put it past him.
I believe the 8 dollar blue tick thing is a red herring. It’s a way to get payment processing into twitter and start getting peoples payment/card details.
This is a beta test in order to allow for future payments and subscriptions on the platform. Hell, he’ll probably end up trying to take on PayPal (since folk are deleting PayPal accounts).
He probably went for the blue tick folk thinking ‘they’ve got money and vanity, so they’ll pay the nominal fee for it’ not expecting the backlash.

Impressive that users on this very forum keep parotting "but Elon promised us he hasn't changed the moderation yet", having fired half the moderators.

The above age is all you need to know the truth

Wouldn't surprise me if he microtransactioned the hell out of it.
