The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

It's not from an Elon talking point though, there was a big thread on Twitter from the CEO of the non-profit org media matters literally detailing how an activist group called stop the deal scuppered pre-booked ad revenue:
The very next post in that guy's thread said "all because of Elon's Red pilled edgelord approach". He was eviscerating Musk, not excusing him

I know a few people who got verified just by knowing someone at Twitter. No payment though. You'll notice a lot of nobodies in the tech industry with a few thousand followers are verified.

I don't doubt for a moment that there have been verification ticks sold to other people.
Sure, but again, I'm not talking about that :p

So you don't think Musk has thought this all through?

Payment verification sounds like a good move to me anyway.

When it looked like you had to actually verify your identity it made more sense and there were lots of posts on here saying it would make Twitter better. Now it seems like you don't need to verify your identify at all and its just a paid for stamp that many users will believe means you are who you say you are but you could be anyone. If anything that has made Twitter even less safe.

Elon continues to rack up the Ls.

I can't see those car manufactures rushing back. Why would you want to put money in Elon's pocket when you are brining out your own EVs? Anything they can passively do to hit Tesla is a win win for them.

And can you imagine boards of those companies seeing that tweet and thinking everything is fine at Twitter, so lets put our money back in as the new owner seems very level headed  He really is a loose canon.

It's funny to see Coke on that list, yet they are more than happy to sponsor a World Cup where an estimated 12,000 people died building stadia for it.

Put photos of those abused workers next to Coke ads or women being beaten on the streets for not being dressed modestly or a gay person being whipped in the streets and their would be a response. That is what the advertisers are concerned about with Twitter.

Oh and yes they are all hypocrites, they will jump into bed with the devil if it sells their products but they won't want the devil near their ads.

I don't think Musk is putting money into Tesla, so I doubt it makes any difference whether Twitter bombs or thrives.

Exactly.

May or not be Off topic, but my point is why is this "musk is evil sob" thing more important then stuff that actually is important and affects the lives of tens of thousands of people.

Israel bombs the **** out of Palestine, does an whole apartheid worse then South Africa and is lauded as the example for "democracy" for Middle East.

China imprisons and brainwashes millions of people due to there religion. No one gives a ****.

Saudi conducts a war against its neighbour killing untold civilians and America only stops giving it weapons due to Saudi not selling oil at lower prices.

In our own country we have billionaires as leaders who benefit from econonomic policies they and there friends decide upon, none were elected by us.

Dare we mention the rise of ultra feminism, tranny brigade forcing kids to take puberty blockers, musicians being almost naked (young impressionable children watch this), rappers singing about stabbing people (we've saw how this knife crime pandemic is killing so many young adults) less someone reign us in for being a homophobe or extremist.

We have all these ****** up, evil things happening in the world and somehow Mr Musk is the problem.

Wake up, we live in a broken world lets not ignore these problems that exist and affect us and our children and the future generation.

How many users need to pay $8 a month to make the business viable?

Wondering if the business might work without big advertiser's. Even a small fraction of the total user base paying that every month is going to be a huge amount of cash

Lol go take that else where. If you want to moan and deflect from poor Elon then do that in another thread.

If you can't walk and chew gum at the same time that's your issue, but also rather sad that you think people can't chat about new x subject because of old y subject is happening.

I see you single out Saudi, shall we carry on and list all the other Islamic countries with horrific human rights records? The list is long after all.

So I hope you have major concerns with huge amounts of Saudi money being in Twitter now? Musk saying its all about free speech when he teams up with one of the worst countries in the world for punishing anyone who dares use their own voice. Will Twitter be supressing speech criticising the Saudi regime or human rights violations of Islamic countries in general? So yes Mr Musk is a problem when he teams up with such people.

The comical finances involved mean he's bought Twitter and put the debt on Twitter adding another billion a year that Twitter needs to make.

There is no chance in hell he's getting the userbase to pay off his debt.

He's put up huge amounts of Tesla stock against his loans, loans he's now loaded on to Twitter's books. If Twitter can't pay those loans down it could hurt Tesla stock.

Tesla stock, maybe, but stock value is basically irrelevant to the success of a company except in a few specific situations. Hell, Musk losing Tesla shares might even help the company.

Well that is where you'd be wrong because I'd already read that thread. And it clearly says they weren't pressuring them to not buy ads, they were asking them to ask Twitter questions and Twitter had no answers that calmed the advertisers concerns. Trying to blame them for Elon's failings is just lazy.

If you'd already read that thread then why pretend that I was parroting an Elon talking point when the involvement of an activist group is documented by someone clearly opposed to Elon... at least try and deal with what has been said.
The very next post in that guy's thread said "all because of Elon's Red pilled edgelord approach". He was eviscerating Musk, not excusing him

I'm well aware of that, what does that have to do with anything? Is this more of this polarised thinking? I'm not allowed to refer to a source that's critical of Elon???

Lol what?

Yes, the world is a diabolic cesspit of awfulness, but this thread is about Musk and how he contributes to that awfulness.
