The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Yeah I think it might be a little more nuanced than that

Really? Which nuance of him being taken to court to make him continue with the purchase he had legally committed to after he tried to pull out did I miss?

he is also capable of making Twitter a far more successful platform

Is he? I haven't seen any evidence that suggests that. Very much the opposite so far.

Its early days

Thing is with disruptors, which is what Musk is, they can shake up a steady business and take it forwards, or they can cause significant potentially unrecoverable damage

Who knows where Twitter would have gone without Musk.
A good judge will IMO be whether the net profit/loss situation improves or gets worse over the next few years, assuming it survives a few years

Its early days

True. He might turn it around yet. But, from what we've seen so far, and everything he's said about what he wants to do I cannot see any reason to believe he is "capable of making Twitter a far more successful platform". I suspect, as well, that Musk realised this which is why he tried to pull out of the purchase.

Again I disagree, I've not given you the run around I've been quite clear about my position here, you simply disagree.

It's not just losing $8 though, you seem fixated on this "stealing $8" thing etc. I mean the current situation for most people is that any account can simply change their name and impersonate you.

So now verification will be broadened there are steeper penalties for impersonation (perma ban not just a warning) an d it's linked to your iOS or Andriod ID.

If you don't like that then fine... that's up to you but to feign ignorance and keep on pestering me because you simply disagree with me then complain about it is getting rather silly.

Oh you absolutely have, how many evasive and empty replies did you make in a row?

It's not clear that you will have to provide any form of ID at all for a Twitter subscription and this is not a difference of opinion.

So given that it's not settled but there is definitely an obliteration of staff and the definite requirement for a premium account is called having $8 the idea that verification is improved is a terrible claim.

Elon, the social media and business turn around expert. Is there anything this man can't do? Is he even a man? He could be a God, THE God!

Only when you asked for something you could have literally scrolled back to check, I'm not going to engage in your blatant time-wasting when you're asking things you could look up yourself or that have already been discussed very recently in the same thread, at least put in some effort if you're going to feign being interested in a topic.

It's not though, you might want to criticise the current implementation, though your notion of just paying $8 is a bit of a straw man given there is a bit more to it, linking it to your apple/android ID, removing it temporarily if you change your name, perma banning impersonators.

Currently, the staus quo for most users is no verification at all... As for the people who've bought blue checkmarks or people who'd change display names to impersonate others - well that fraudulent market is destroyed and the name change gambit won't work. He's also clearly aware of (and has commented on) the little character change gambits capital "i" and "l" for example, so I'd expect to see them cracking down on those soon too.

what you're perfectly highlighting is that the creators have to pay to solve the issue for elon.

we all know youtube comments were a load of trash (still are in many ways). imagine youtube charging those who create the videos to solve the issue of junk comments.

madness
The general idea is to clean up the site and make it more attractive to advertisers which means more money for content creators in the end as they can charge more to tweet or promote products. Possibly leading to some kind of rev share model similar to what IG and YouTube etc use

Change is always difficult on established services and I expect he will see a lot of resistance but the options really are Twitter dies or evolves. I don't use it so either result is fine with me

He just can't help himself. Wakes up and thinks, "I know a good idea for a troll, I'll post a pic of a German Wehrmacht solider today, then stand back and see what happens." Its not like there are a shortage of carrier pigeon pics out there, no he had to choose that picture. Advertisers I'm sure will be put at ease and will be flocking (pun not intended) back.

It must be exhausting to pretend you're outraged at things you see on the internet all day, I bet you goto bed and drop right to sleep

Are you really trying to convince me right now that you looked at that picture and instantly recognised it to be a German Wehrmacht solider?
Do you regularly spend your time studying what Nazi soldiers look like?

It must be exhausting trying to live up to dowie, and defending billionaires constantly (but offering the forum nothing else?).
The funny thing is, it's just another round about way for roar to defend daddy elon.

Colonel was making a valid point, those tweets don't help advertisers want to use twitter.

And roar has to defend it and make it about something else.

Honestly, how is that not super obvious? Have you watched a single documentary about either of the 2 World wars? If not, there's some great ones on Netflix I recommend.

existing requirements for verification are stringent -if- they applied them - maybe read them first hand.

.....

two can tango
“Meta is planning to begin large-scale layoffs this week, according to people familiar with the matter […] The layoffs are expected to affect many thousands of employees and an announcement is planned to come as soon as Wednesday, according to the people.”

Jpaul that was verification before Musk decided to charge 8$

I'm sorry is there a giant swastika that i missed in the image? What are these traits of the Nazi uniforms that are "super obvious" as you have so boldly proclaimed?

*Awaits list of really obscure and specfic items that only nerds of the subject would notice*
