The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Did he say people should vote Republican? Yes or no?

Doctor: I think some heroin users should take heroin because they're addicted and will go cold turkey otherwise.

Colonel Kink: Did the doctor say people should take heroin? Yes or no?

All I've done is point out the context, Elon recommended that independents vote Republican on the basis that there was a Democrat President. We both know this, I don't know what you're trying to achieve with these questions, you simply omitted the context that's all.

Now he can say what ever he likes but at this time he has made himself the face and voice of Twitter. Maybe he should have refrained from diving into the election until he's stepped back and got a CEO in and isn't running the company on a day to day basis. If he wants Twitter to seem politically neutral that is.

Yes, more of the Colonel's guide on how CEO's should behave, see previously how potential board members should behave...

He also pointed out that he's registered independent and has voted democrat until now. The guy literally is a swing voter and if you're worried about neutrality then perhaps this would have been of more concern historically, it's pretty clear where the bias was for twitter previously:

I noticed there are people on Twitter claiming they are going to leave the site. Then I googled the post and it seems to be a mass copy/paste exercise.

Many tick accounts are posting it.

Whether people like it or loathe it, if you want access online outside your bubble then its Twitter. So far no other big website does that.
I loved this meme when it gets posted in response

There was a bit of "herp derp what if I steal a card and pay $8" yesterday, I thought it ought to have been quite apparent that apple/google ID + payment etc.. provides a decent barrier for a lot of the spammers etc.. but perhaps this thread would be useful for those who are still baffled:

Also a note on the "OMG free speech, why is he banning Elon impersonators" "the constitutions protects parody"

I don’t think many will leave at all. Bit like all the people who said they’d leave the UK if Brexit happened.

Storm in a teacup.

Exactly, it's attention seeking narcissism thinking that announcing their departure is a big deal that'll rock Twitter. Like that gender fluid idiot Sam Smith crying on his doorstep after only 2 days in lockdown

Add to it those that announce they are blocking someone. How sad do you have to be to announce it. Just do it and move on. It is like they think anyone even cares about them and they must have the last word or something.

I do find it funny though that the great idea of Elon's to solve the problem of fake accounts, is to charge the real users and even worse, the real creators an endless amount. Not even a one off verification charge, but an endless charge every month.

So if your account is suspended and twitter refuses to lift that suspension, you can bypass all of that if you pay $8 a month?

I don't give a **** about this 'they' bs, sounds like they have schizophrenia
Surely someone that doesn't give a poop about something, would not give a poop about something. For instance, I couldn't care, leave them to do what they want. I don't give a poop.

But from your post, seems the opposite. Seems you do care about whether they call themselves, he, she, they, it.

Sounds like you're stuck in a circular argument. I don't give a poop so I don't give any effort to it, so I just call him what he clearly is. End of

Lol who'd have thought that he'd blame someone else other than poor daddy elon.

It's a new spin but it is just that. Poor daddy elon, all these companies want to spend on his platform but they can't. People are so mean to him.

Why are you talking about me in the third person? Quote my post and reply. Being passive aggressive is definitely a trait a lot of you share

I'm not sure that's the case, what's that based on? Elon's "banter"?

To be fair he has advocated that he's anti permanent suspension, though I suspect less so for obvious spammers and more so for say allowing back a real person who breached a rule; called a politician a rude word etc..

i don't give a poop about anyone who wants to be called whatever they want, literally do not care, they can ask to be called lampshades for all i care and if i happen to remember that then i'll refer to them as such. but because i care so little, i've probably missed what their moniker of choice is currently so will likely go with whatever suits my mood at the time - be that it, they, them, him, her, Mary or Mike......failing that i'll refer to them as whatever i reckon best suits them.

now that's how to not give a ****

Waffle waffle. He has told people to vote Republican. Why he said it is irrelevant. Your analogy is laughable, silly even. All people take away from his statement is Elon says vote Republican. All the headlines from news outlets and journalists on Twitter are, Elon says vote Republican. Now you can make all the excuses you like, you can post graphs on how people donate, none of them have the voice Musk does at this time. If Jeff Bazos put a full front page opinion on the Washington Post today saying Vote Democrat, I would be the first to call him out. He owns that paper and would be within his rights to do that. We can all agree it would be wrong.

These are quite likely some of the same people who announced they were moving to Canada when Trump became POTUS 45.

I suspect they stayed then and they’ll be staying now.
