Just a check here….billionaire has normal peoples best interest at heart with this free speech stuff?

All with a background of disaster capitalism with this reorg. Complaining about people pulling ads? Well, a bit stronger than complaining.

Twitter can be funny and informative but goes to show why there should be no anonymity on social media. Full free speech with no anonymity I could go for, it makes people think before they “spew” :D

It all looks a bit Lex Luther if you ask me.

It's incredibly unlikely that they'll do this.

i agree, but they are well within their grounds to ban the app if it breaks the extensive rules in place.

The lack of content moderation is almost certainly against Apple's rules.

1.1 Objectionable Content
Apps should not include content that is offensive, insensitive, upsetting, intended to disgust, in exceptionally poor taste, or just plain creepy. Examples of such content include:

  • 1.1.1 Defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited content, including references or commentary about religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national/ethnic origin, or other targeted groups, particularly if the app is likely to humiliate, intimidate, or harm a targeted individual or group. Professional political satirists and humorists are generally exempt from this requirement.
  • 1.1.5 Inflammatory religious commentary or inaccurate or misleading quotations of religious texts.1.2 User-Generated Content
  • Apps with user-generated content present particular challenges, ranging from intellectual property infringement to anonymous bullying. To prevent abuse, apps with user-generated content or social networking services must include:
A method for filtering objectionable material from being posted to the app
A mechanism to report offensive content and timely responses to concerns
The ability to block abusive users from the service
Published contact information so users can easily reach you

Which makes it clear that any significant change in Twitter's moderation would break the T&C.

Further to this, various countries also have content moderation requirements. For example in Germany, it is a legal requirement to remove reported hate speach and racism etc. within 24 hours, or gave fines of 50million euros per incident. These rules look to be adopted by the whole EU next year.
This then puts legal pressure on Apple and Google if their platforms are supporting apps that violate national and international rules..

I guess what has happened is Apple has simply pointed out the legal requirement of a social media app to be in the App store, and Musk has rushed to the internet because he insists on being able to publish jate speech, all while banning anyone calling him a name.

So is Apple angling to remove twitter from IOS?

That can't be right, surely. So everybody with an Apple phone will not be able to access the app

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong with this, but it could be like how android does it, in that, of they remove it, it doesn't get removed from phones, it just stops new people downloading it. Those that have the app already continue to have it.

"Anyone who chooses to not do business with me hates free speech!"

Exactly lol

That's a lot of flavourless coke.

Maybe the chemicals have damaged his brain.

I feel attacked! It's the coke I drink. If you're going to go sugarless, you may as well go caffaine free too!

Musk said he would be unsuspending accounts 'provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam.' He didn't say 'If you were suspended for mean tweets, I'll unsuspend you but you have to stop posting mean tweets if you want to stay on this platform.'
No, but it's common sense right? Only an idiot would think I know what I'll do now I'm unsuspended, I'll carry on with the behaviour that got me suspended in the 1st place that's clearly a violation of the tos..

Yeah maybe Elon should ask Zuckerberg how things went when he went head to head with Apple. Things didn't work out too well and his company's stock tanked from $376 to $108 and he didn't even get near having the app removed from the App Store.

And the idea that Apple asserting its 1st amendment right to not spend its money on Twitter is anti American is laughable and yet the Elon bros are lapping it up.

I'd be surprised if Apple do end up removing Twitter from the App Store, but Phony Stark attempting to shame Apple into resuming spending their ad money with him is next level craziness. Apparently Apple was the biggest ad buyer on Twitter. Not good news for a company that needs to start being profitable.

I'm sure it was all the fault of 'activists' though and definitely not because Elon is a basket case with no plan.

But most of these people that were suspended had multiple warnings and temporary bans before given a final warning which they all ignored and proceeded to continue breaking the rules.
Why do you think they would change, and even if you think they might why do they deserve to be unsuspended?

Over 50 of Twiiter's top 100 ad spenders have paused activities and are not buying ads. Musk replied to someone agreeing to the suggestion to name and shame the advertisers. That is just plain nuts.

He seems to actively wants Twitter to die
