The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Weird you think he was only speaking to independent voters, when his tweet says 'indepenent-minded'. You would wouldn't be misinterpreting what actually happened there would you Dowie?

I mean you could read the second tweet if you're confused as to who he was speaking to; "Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!"

Did he recommend voting Dem during the midterms while Trump was President?
Around the 2018 midterms he was giving interviews that Tesla being successful was more important for all life on earth than any politics or elections.

Then 4 years later he suggested independent minded people vote for the party that mostly thinks climate change isn't real.

Because the context matters, he's an independent/moderate who has historically voted democrat; his desire is that Twitter is maintained as a place where people can freely express their views (within reason). The claim was he bought twitter and immediately told everyone to vote GOP, he didn't; he told independents to vote GOP in a particular election for the reason he gave.

Did he buy Twitter last year? Wait, he bought Twitter in October 2022!
Did he not tweet out to people to vote for the GOP? Oh yes he did. Was it like a decade later? Nooo, it was like 2 weeks after!

How much sooner would you liked to be "immediately"? Are you trying to qualify it by arguing over the word "immediately"?

Where did I object to the word "immediately"? Are you being deliberately slow here Ray?

If you are not objecting to the term immediately, and not objecting to the fact that he said "vote for the GOP".

So you agreed that he told people to vote for the GOP?

What are you actually objecting to? that he meant for the independent voters? As opposed to who? Obama voters? Trump supporters?

As if he can change their mind or need any help. Jono said "he asked people to vote for the GOP after he bought twitter". which you said "No he didn't"

And you are wrong...you can't even deny it.

He is just arguing semantic nonsense which is all he has. Best to just leave him to embarrass himself.

But no one has disputed that?

You're being pretty dumb here Ray; I literally explained the point already in this post, I don't see how misquoting people in this thread and then highlighting a tweet I already posted in here myself is particularly useful.

You did. Did you forget?

Nope! Why are you wilfully ignoring context? Why ignore who he was speaking to?

There wasn't some general call that *everyone* should vote Republican, there was a tweet about a particular mid-term election addressed at independent voters.

I am not ignoring context. I am concentrating on the FACT that he told people to vote for the GOP. Which he did. But you said he didn't.

The fact that he is pushing the independent voters to the GOP (or any side) is a bad move upon itself.

This is about as silly a semantic argument as you can get.

Would it make you feel better if I said instead - "Elon Musk (very shortly after taking over Twitter), used his influence to tell the American people that they should vote the GOP into control of congress"?

Where did he address that to everyone? Was there some context there Ray... Why are you sperging out over this when you could just take care to read the post where I explained what I was referring to here:

Oh, so now you are debating on the "everyone" part.

As I said, like he could change the minds of Obama supporters or Trump supporters need anymore encouragement. It is all the more concerning and WORSE that he targeted the independent voters.
