The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

No idea of this story. What's the deets?

Little known music groupie whose claim to fame was sleeping with as many band members as possible, reinvented herself several times in the pursuit of fame and finally found success as a self-professed 'sex trafficking victim.'

Elon Musk decided she was legit, boosted her profile on Twitter, and banned people who criticised her. She also gained a wide following among the right wing media.

But the more people investigate her story, the more it becomes clear that she's a grifting fantasist who can't keep her lies straight.

She's getting busted left and right now. Her story is wildly inconsistent, and her claims are demonstrably false. Huge embarrassment for Musk. He should just take the L and apologise now.
Musk has never and will never apologise for anything, to do so is an admission of being wrong, he will never do that.

Good job on her part. Played them like the fools they are by sounds of it

I don't think lying to people about being sex trafficked can be considered a 'good job.' FWIW, she appears to have fooled a lot of leftists as well, and it's the right wingers who caught and exposed her.

Another "money maker" from Musk.
Twitter will discontinue offering free access to the Twitter API starting February 9 and will launch a paid version, the Elon Musk-owned microblogging website said as it looks for more avenues to monetize the platform.

In a series of tweets, the Twitter Developer account said the firm will be ending support for both legacy v1.1 and the new v2 of its Twitter APIs. It did not immediately say how much it plans to charge for API usage.

They've done a shed load of damage by improperly communicating their plan but i do wonder if this ploy might coax some of the developers to bring their third-party clients back.

Having a charged option for api seems sensible to me, just the way he goes about doing it is always so poorly thought out.

Means the end of one of my favourite accounts though :(

That isn't a proper apology, its a reply to someone else's tweet. A proper apology is a tweet on his own feed stating what he is actually apologising for. If you just saw his tweet pop up on your feed you'd have no idea what he meant. Its pretty much less than the bare minimum.

You can just scroll up and see exactly what he's replying to?

Like I said its less than the bare minimum. If I had jumped on board a CT after a man had been violently assaulted with a hammer in his own house I would have the guts and decency to actually apologise for it on my own feed and maybe tag Nancy Pelosi in that tweet or at least mention their names. He did none of those things.

I think in reality you wouldn't actually accept any apology regardless

I'm sure if the guy wasn't just virtue signaling against Elon Musk he could easily get funded to pay for API usage

I didn't realise 'choosing not to pay for access to an API in order to make a non-monetised whimsical Twitter account continue to function when that access up until now has been free' was virtue signalling. You learn something new every day.

Well you've shown time and again that you don't actually think, congrats on sticking with it. And for the record when someone makes a genuine apology I accept that they mean it. That is far from a genuine apology. When someone is genuinely sorry for something they've said they make it towards the person its owed to. Not some random person on that person twitter thread.

It isn't, but if it's a popular account I'm sure there are enough people to crowd fund the API use.

lol, it has 580k followers.
