The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Twitter usage climbing despite people on here saying it's dying, weird.

I guess the good thing about Twitter is that it's got such a global reach a lot of users don't care about this weird culture war going on in the West which forces people to have some deranged view of Elon Musk and hate Twitter by proxy.

Well, the user metric depends on whether it gets through the EU's digital markets act by Xmas or not surely
Did I say it didn't!!! Can't you read!!! See how that is a silly reply?

As opposed to my real one which is, wmues you're right I agree, it needs to get through that hurdle. Nothing to suggest why it won't, but it's the time it takes to do that.

But you've highlighted a good point. Twitter is world wide, threads is not and it has a big sign up. The EU is still a massive market to get alone.

Threads vs twitter depends on 2 things imo. How quickly threads becomes a full product. And how quickly Elon is elon.

He had a monopoly. I wonder if now he will be held back from his usual antics, or will he double down. Will he start pushing conspiracy theories again, will he unban Kanye West again, will he start publicly shaming his advertisers again. Or will he go back to building cool Flame throwers, and sending cars into space.

Funny I thought we were not allowed to look at short term statistics like a 4 month long trend posted by someone not affiliated with Twitter.
But we are supposed to Trust Musk when he posts a week of data.

Hmm its almost as if in order to support cope you have applied a completely different set of criteria.

Does this increase relate to the period after Musk broke the platform for loads of people so they couldn't post and view? ;)

That's a bit meaningless without knowing the same weeks data from last year data or a longer timeframe. What if they have had a 50% loss for the weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, then on week 5 get a 3% gain and this is week 5 they posted. I am not saying that is the case. These are just numbers as an example of why 1 single week is meaningless without knowing the previous weeks data.

It's indicative that everyone didn't migrate to Threads and ditch Twitter if in their launch week Twitter use increased

So you can't think of any reason, none whatsoever, why the total amount of active user seconds would increase in the week the platform instigated sweeping changes to the platform that, from what i can make out, have been widely panned by their user base?

That was never going to happen. People don't change their habits overnight. Twitter is a habit, just like FB, IG and even this forum. If Threads overtakes Twitter it will be a slow process happening over months, maybe even years.

I honestly cannot understand how there is any way the genius that is musk has ended up owning a business with a negative cash flow and heavy debt load, after all he knew exactly what he was doing when he paid twice it's value, and put it in a position where it's losses tripped overnight just from the interest.
I mean we keep getting told he had a plan.

Sounds like youtube.

I never see anything like that on youtube.

Ads focussed based on what you watch maybe?

Don't worry folks, everything's fine at Twitter, no need to panic.

Unless you're an employee, in which case you'll probably be gone in the next round of job cuts.

Wait! what!

Hes halved ad revenue and hes also now giving some away.
Hes royally screwed the pooch here hasn't he.

I have pro, but the amount of crap ads when I used youtube at the sisters recently is just as bad as twitter. There's even a reddit page dedicated to it.

Youtube is full of scam adverts, fake dating sites etc.
