First we gonna rock, then we gonna roll
Then we let it pop, go, let it go (what)
X gon' give it to ya (uh), he gon' give it to ya
X gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya

Ah yes the new x.com delivery service, I ordered a stainless steel popcorn maker and didn't think it was real but would you believe it

Knock knock, open up the door, it's real
With the non-stop, pop-pop of stainless steel

The youtube advertiser drama has made me wonder if they're becoming generally skittish about these platforms being truthful when it comes to ad engagement, so even if Twitter X resolves it's relationship there I don't think it will ever be the same now.

As an aside I think this idea of a platform that does everything inherently results in heavy sunk cost fallacy developing if it can absorb a big enough market that makes credible competition impossible... How is gating medium/long range communication behind an additional paywall sensible for humanity's continued progress even remotely conducive Elon's supposed idealism of his actions? I much prefer a cycle of growth and death that capitalism promises to provide benefits from rather than this imperious garbage.

We're approaching levels of corporate wankery that shouldn't even be possible!

I'm not surprised, Musk actually said he was going to do this two years ago he was talking about it.

In China they have this app called WeChat and what started out as a messaging platform grew into an everything platform - you can do all your shopping, all your banking, your business, order food, arrange taxis and couriers and deliveries, store your social and driver license IDs, watch videos, posts blogs, post Twitter updates, use public transport, keeps your covid/medical records, borrow money, transfer money etc and it even lets the CCP spy on you and keep track of your every move.

And while Musk was setting up his shilling Tesla factory in China they introduced him to his app and he saw how it was used to do everything- you can't even take public transport anymore without it, entry into many places also requires it - people in China are forced to use WeChat just to be able to have a job and get around. When Musk was introduced to this he absolutely loved it, it was love at first sight and saw dollar signs

And ever since he has been saying he wants to make a WeChat copy for the US and Western market, a do it all app and service that can control peoples lives

What if he cures cancer?
If he does (which he won't like literally every time this argument is used) then nobody would criticise it would they?

Making electric cars and space exciting again are tangible things he's actually done (to some degree) that deserve praise even if he's overpromised regularly, but this universal nexus is a **** idea that can only result in net harm.
