Ah I didn't realise there were that many card numbers possible!

It does still feel stupid "solution" for bots, to punish the good users who bring in money.

I wonder if Elon has looked at twitter blue users, looked at advertisers and just seen that it is an impossibility that twitter will ever make money as it is, due to Elon's changes, so he's now needing another way to bring in money.

I think one thing is certain, he has no clue what he's doing and just making it up as he takes along twitter/x whatever and it's users along (or not, depending how they react to changes) for a joy ride.

His hands look like they have a mind of their own, don't know who told him that moving his hands around like that was effective, but it just looks ridiculous.

At one point he starts even looking at his own hands, as if even hes amazed at what they are doing!
If yo didnt know better you would think there was someone above him pulling the strings attached to his hands

Re credit cards, IIRC Twittter/x like most places accepts "virtual" credit cards, there is practically an infinite number of virtual credit card numbers that can be used (something like a trillion combinations per card issuing company).

Even if Twitter/musk could id virtual card numbers I doubt they'd want to ban them given that a lot of people on low incomes will make use of disposable/prepaid cards.

The point of these cards, or one of, is to be able to make a transaction but that if they are harvested they are worthless.
IMO all card companies should be required to make them available (in probably limited numbers) to help people be able to use them where they consider a risk of fraud.

I run an account like this with restricted or limited funds so if the card is compromised they can't go on a spending spree and I usually get a warning a payment was attempted and I can sort it out, still with my money intact. It's just a bit of a faff to transfer money over to it prior to use.

Learnt my lesson a long time ago using cards online that have actual required day to day living money sat in them.

Is it really an issue though? Especially with modern day banking, I have to approve basically everything I spend online that's for a new supplier

It is still an issue, although not as bad as it once was.

If you use third party payment processors that protection can be limited, and if compromised card is used at a retailer you've used before it can be limited.

You're also relying on your bank to be quick on the ball, not all banks are especially in some countries, the US from memory is still at least a decade or more behind the EU in many ways in terms of banking protection (partly because in the EU and UK we have far more robust consumer laws in regards to card fraud).

Imagine yourself for a moment in a conversation with a another person, "hey...I pay monthly to use X".....just..just think about how stupid that makes you look lol.

Imaging telling someone you browse/use X, how embarrassing

In real life no one admits to using X, because they know how lame duck it makes them look, all their co-workers, friends and family will instantly look down upon them

I'm talking about hiding things you enjoy doing and your interests, like you're still trying to look cool in front of other people
Personal insult and attack from someone that constantly moans about being personally insulted and attacked...

Are you often this rude to people in real life? How do you navigate without getting a smack in the mouth every time you're out socialising?
Because i'm not a **** @Roar87. Common sense suggests if you, @Roar87, go giving it the biggens in your size sevens and (hypocritically) throw insults/attacks around, then expect them to get served back to you. Just imagine, if didn't try to look like billy big ******** a few post back with your snide remark, then we wouldn't be here :)

Well played for derailing a thread though @Roar87...
