The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Can Elon still afford to do the original $54.20-share price? As it now looks like it'll "cost" him a hell of a lot now than it did.

the walkback started a few weeks ago
Yup, he's been moaning about the deal for a while, certainly since the SEC/FTC (standard procedure i believe)/lawsuit came into play.
Although i'm now question the whole endgame plan, as if there was then it doesn't appear to be going his way

That doesn't add up in reality given that pulling out now could cost him billions.
Is the termination fee ($1bn) clear cut in the merger agreement or would he be able to wangle out of it some how, perhaps with political pressure? Like Paxton currently "looking" into Twitter which definitely has a whiff of Elon about it considering all his business in Texas.

I for one am curious about why they won't provide the data he has requested and legally entitled to, I very much doubt Twitter has <5% bot/spam accounts, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was more like 30%+.
Is it part of the merger agreement that Elon & co have access to raw user data?

Everyone fiddles their books.
Definitely a few contractors here doing side eyes....

I've not paid attention really, but saw some suggestion his agreement to buy actually specifically waived the due diligence requirement.

According to the documentation, twitter is legally obliged to provide musk with the information he requests in order to facilitate the consummation of the contract. The requesting of user data satisfies the agreements they have both previously agree'd to.

I recommend watching this video by a US based contract lawyer who goes over the recent letter sent to Twitter by Musk.

I'm much more interested that Musk intends to shut down bots and misinformation and wants to clean up Twitter. Don't think the "free speech" crowd are going to get the kind of "free speech" they expect/are after.

Twitter as obviously been fiddling the books so its common sense that Musk will have second thoughts about buying it.
Obviously? If it's so obvious, it was rather stupid of the richest guy in earth, to publicly announce, and then put in a legally binding offer, to take over twitter, without doing basic homework. Fool on Elon for that if what you say is true

Big statement there, can you prove it?
Interesting you skipped Bowdons statement above

What type of free speech do you think people want? Do you think everyone wants the ability go type the N word to people they don't like with no repercussions? I actually think some of you believe that and I wonder what sort of world you think you occupy.
