Politicians have been doing that for ever though. If you have an issue that motivates your side then its best to keep it front and centre. Being a 2 party system there probably doesn't help. Republicans don't want to solve the border, they had a chance to fully fund Trump's wall in 2016-18 when they controlled the WH and Congress and they didn't. Not that building some wall that can be climbed/cut through solves anything as the vast majority entering the country actually do it at ports of entry anyway.

Democrats don't want to pass abortion legislation for the same reason, they had plenty of chances since Roe to do so. It just worked out that SCOTUS jumped in and made it the issue that is now and such a vote winner for them. Even if they gained the 60 seat majority in the Senate I'm not sure they'd pass legislation protecting abortion. Politics is politics and no party is going to give the voters everything they promise, otherwise what do they campaign on next time?

There isn't some conspiracy to replace the white man with non whites though. That is just racist nonsense.

It is amazing watching in real time his fall as a respected figure. Before Covid he was seen generally as a force for good and a level headed billionaire. It all started to go wrong with his early takes on covid and he's gone further and further off the deep end as time has progressed. Given how this has accelerated since he bought Twitter I do wonder where he'll be in just a years time.
 
Funny how he's able to have conversations with world leaders every other week given his apparent fall as a respected figure. The only world leader who doesn't seem to want to speak to him is Joe Biden, fortunately this time next year he'll likely have lost the election, if not the daily struggle with the Grim Reaper.

Ah yes, all these fantastic world leaders. The only true measure and bastions of respectability each and every one, except ol'Joe of course, because he doesn't want to meet Elon. It can be defined no other way.

You mean like the criminal Netanyahu? He's hardly a respected figure himself is he. Corrupt as they come and teamed up with some that are little better than the Nazis that murdered so many Jews.

The reason some meet him is because he owns Twitter and is so vocal on it. Its pure PR for their own personal gain, not because they value his input. He's shown time and time again he has terrible takes on anything outside his lane.

He's met with a lot of world leaders; Xi Jinping, Modi, Macron, Sunak, Meloni, Bolsonaro, Netanyahu, etc. There's a long list of world leaders who are all seemingly keen to meet him. There seems to be a perception that he's some weird outlier who is roundly mocked and looked down on, but outside of this bizarre Western leftist subculture of hate driven largely by American politics and Trump fueled anxiety, almost everyone respects his achievements, and his opinions on anything tech or space related are highly valued.

Twice in the last 2 days twitter has shown me the same porn advert. How they think that is appropriate as an ad is beyond me, I reported it the first time so it wouldn't show up again,.... and it's back again today.

Elon getting really desperate for that ad revenue.

I suspect at this point Twitter's advert checks are probably below the level of the third tier outsourced "ad networks" that used to infest the likes of the World of Warcraft related sites and would routinely infect my nephew's PC with ad and malware through browser exploits.

I very much doubt that anyone at twitter is bothering to check who is buying adverts these days, let alone what they actually are as that required human staff and ironically was probably cheaper and easier to manage, yet far more profitable back when Twitter had big companies advertising than it is now they're relying on the likes of crypto scams and weightloss drug adverts.

Yeah and bots are out of control. I've been getting on average a couple of bots following me a day and they are 99% porn. I'd love to think that many young hot women want to follow me but then reality strikes :cry:
