The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Wouldn't you rather not get hit though, which is the other rather relevant factor here re: safety.

Personally, I'd rather a near miss with a cyber truck thanks to AI than ending up on the bonnet of a hatchback driven by some idiot.

Correct, but that's operating on the assumption that no other vehicles have collision avoidance, when most do.

We are of course concerned with absolute safety, not that there aren't also other safe cars on the road using the same technology. Cybertruck will almost certainly be one of the safest. Still struggling to understand the issue you all have. Tesla wanted to design it in a certain way with an angled look, it's still far safer than most vehicles on the road because it's not likely to hit anything.

Whey! Thread back in full swing. Thought you guys had run out of steam after the Christmas break.

No there isn't any yet as you know, it's only just been released. Logically though given it has the same technology that's in a Tesla it's extremely likely this will be the case. I wonder when the Elon haters will just have a day off hating
I didn't and as you're plugged into the Elon Musk matrix i thought you might have some actual scientific data or sources to back up your statement(s). But no worries, will wait and see what happens, especially if it gets into the EU/UK :)

By that logic you could stick collision avoidance systems on the Gigahorse and call it a safe car

You don't even know what I drive and you claim cybertruck is automatically safer? That's some real Tesla shilling

Argument is irrelevant, Tesla made another safe car so the Cybertruck is automatically the safest car on the road.

You didn't say anything about federal elections, nor did musk

Illegal immigrants voting in federal election and so stealing them is what this whole CT is about. As the main state elections tend to fall on the general election date of 8th of November its those elections that matter. A few towns and districts allow non citizens to vote in municipal elections. The idea that Democrats are brining in illegal immigrants to win municipal elections is frankly laughable.

He's sounding like a proper 2024 Republican now.
Great replacement - check
Illegals stealing elections for Democrats - check
White genocide - coming at you in a tweet soon

I'm not assuming that, but the regulations don't require any of that, some do for sure but I doubt most vehicles, let alone light trucks, on the road have similar tech yet. Not to mention not all self-driving or AI-assisted safety features are equal. Of course, what would be even better would be to have a safer shaped vehicle *and* this sort of collision avoidance for sure but as self-driving tech improves it's going to become more and more negligible relative to the ability to avoid most accidents to begin with.

So interestingly Automatic Emergency Braking has been mandatory on all new vehicles since 2022, with loads of vehicles being fitted with it since 2018.

Lots of recent vehicles have some form of forward collision system but fewer have a pedestrian recognition system as part of that. Last time I looked at a roundup on it Nissan's was actually one of the better ones despite not using AI.

Annoyingly a lot of these systems fail where they'd be most useful - fog or heavy rain, partly due to patents :(

Except it's not going to get more and more negligible is it? Engineering fails all the time, and when it does, I'd rather be hit by a well designed vehicle with squishy bits to absorb the impact than a cheese grater on wheels.

That's a good start but that's not the average vehicle yet nor is it that minimum necessarily as advanced as Tesla's offering.

Of course it is, not being hit in the first place is preferable to being hit but having a better bonet to land on.
