The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

What colour are the people coming across the southern border Roar, are they blonde haired and pale skinned?

And again the overwhelming majority of illegals are visa overstays. Is he ranting about the illegals from Europe or Canada? Is he ****. Its pure politics and he's waded into it for some reason that will be in his own self interest.

Okay, so he hasn't, thank you.

It's not just brown people going over that border. It's anyone, from anywhere in the world, using it as an entry point to bypass the legal (difficult and expensive) routes to get into the US.

It's not racist to want proper, enforced controls at a countries borders.

Show me where the BBC hired that presenter because she was black and a women. Oh right you can't. Thank you.

Jesus it's just so easy isn't it with you.

I mean I've at least shown the BBC has targets for race and gender hiring, what I said has some basis in reality given their actual stated policy and how she's just not very popular/good/interesting/talented yet remains in the job.

Is there at least some basis for Elon Musk being a racist? Well, there isn't, it's just people of a certain political leaning who make immigration a race issue every single time.

The vast majority are brown or should I say not white. And its only going to get worse as time goes on.

No one thinks you can run a border this way but it takes Congress and the Executive branch to work together to fix it. Significant improvements could have been made but House Republicans scuppered that because its bad for elections. Better to have thousands a day pour in.

Elon is clearly playing politics here.

Who said he was racist? I said the political argument over the Southern Border is racist as you don't hear the people outraged over brown people coming in being outraged at white people being illegals. This argument plays into the great replacement theory that is racist and he knows he's stoking those flames with his post, doesn't mean he's racist, just means he's being a **** when he says Democrats want these illegal minorities to enter the country illegally so they can vote against Republicans.

Republicans don't want to fix the problem either as its a vote winner, when illegals pour in and they can campaign that brown people are replacing whites, just like Democrats didn't want legislation on federal abortion protection because it was a vote winner.

Are you finally admitting that your after all that bluster yesterday that your position on her being hired is pure opinion and not based on any facts?

He doesn’t even care about solving it. Biden presented a solution to the problem and he made his cronies vote against it.

It is legitimately bemusing to me that anyone trusts Trump on immigration when HE WAS THE PRESIDENT and he did absolutely **** all to fix it.

@Roar87 explain that to me?

The Democrats have moved to an extreme position when it comes to immigration
why don't you provide a link to what both presidents say? one clip of a former president doesn't show an extreme now, especially given the current president wants to do something about it, providing a bill that is said as one of the toughest for border controls in a long time. that's proof the current guy is extreme?

after writing this i see i've ended up in the elon thread, not the many other threads this is better suited for.

Okay, so you're doing a whatabouttery on people overstaying on their visas, who you've decided are mostly white, and decided the Southern border is mostly brown people. Are people from South America brown? Some are, some aren't. I was friends with a girl from Venezuala and she was about as white as me lol. I just don't buy into this race argument at all. The reason why people are probably more against immigration from the Southern border is that they're coming from extremely poor countries, crime rates are higher, education is lower, there are no checks. Someone overstaying on visa at least had the right to enter the country in the first place so at least they aren't a terrorist/murderer/rapist (most likely). Doesn't this seem obvious to you?

I think the above is why people are annoyed at the Democrats and blame Joe Biden, he essentially campaigned on being soft on immigration, not building a wall - this must have been seen like he was inviting people given the stance he adopted, no? And now you're blaming Trump who campaigned on building a wall to stop the very problem that is now occuring in real time? How dumb do you think people are, seriously?

If Bill Clinton was President today making that speech there wouldn't be a Trump challenge. You don't seem to understand that point.

Trump exists because of the extreme ideas of the left becoming mainstream. If you want to get rid of a Trump threat then all the Democrats have to do is move to the centre.

The US has been further right than the UK for the last 50 years at least, So I find it really hard to believe it's the ideas from the "extreme left" (which would still only be, at most, our center-left) which are apparently "becoming mainstream" as the cause for the rise of populism.

If the Dems moved to "center" in the US, they would still be fairly right-wing in the UK, so what you're really saying is "The Dems need to be more right-wing" (In the context UK people including yourself are actually used to experiencing)

Right wing politics has been done to death in the west at this point and it's pretty clear it simply does not benefit the vast majority of the population.

Biden called Trump racist for stopping immigration entry from countries heavily infected with covid, something other countries did with no fake outrage as it was the sensible thing to do.

Biden came in and kept the sanctions on China. Some of the trade sanctions are still in place.

We didn't see populism until Obama. That was when the media started up. I remember listening to the on the election day broadcasting from the US embassy. Anyone tuning in might have thought the second coming had arrived. There was never this much hype previously for a US President in our lifetime.

I agree that the US is generally more right wing than us. But not when it comes to immigration and crime.

Labour opened an asylum center in France. Talked about an Australian style points system.

Concern over asylum and immigration is not about racism. It is about fairness.

I also understand concern over immigration controls. We will put in place strict controls that work. They will be part of our first legislative programme if we are re-elected on May 5. These controls will include the type of points system used in Australia, for example, to help ensure our economy gets the skills we need.

Sounds a lot like the Tories and Farage today?

No it is not whataboutery. The biggest group of illegals in the US are over stayed visas.

Yes the vast majority coming in from the southern border are brown, Mexicans, Peruvians, Colombians, Cubans, Venezuelans and Ecuadorians. Doesn't mean whites don't live in those counties but they aren't the ones looking for the hope of a better life in the US. Now you also have Iranians, Syrians, Turks, Indians escaping Modi's anti anyone not Hindu, Chinese escaping authoritarian China, are these white?

terrorist/murderer/rapist (most likely)

Is that you Donald?

The wall is a joke on the whole. Easily climbed over or through. There is a reason Republicans didn't fund it and its because it was a white elephant that Trump just wanted to put his name on. Most migrants enter though ports of entry.

Now imagine Regan making this speech today, he's be called a RINO and driven out of the Republican Party.

Ok, but people overstaying on visas have at least had basic checks, you get that? You've literally ignored the entire point.

A lot of these have significant numbers of white people living in them, but why does skin colour matter so much to you?

You cannot just enter the US because you "hope for a better life" lmao. There is a legal process to follow, how don't you understand that man? Americans don't want people entering their country who haven't even had a basic background check, neither do most of us in the UK above the age of 18 with something between our ears either.

Is that you Donald?

When I entered the US, I got a Visa and did so legally, I stated I wasn't a criminal, background checks would have been done. American citizens want to be confident that they aren't letting in terrorists/spies/criminals into their country. I'm sorry this is a race issue for you.

I think every country has a border in place which includes fences/walls, it's normal. It's only a political issue when you fail to fund it and it becomes an illegal point of entry. Obviously walls aren't a 100% barrier, yet they do present a deterrent and discourage illegal entry.

Can I ask, what even is your position here, that America should have an open border and anyone can move there who wants a better life? @Colonel_Klinck Please answer this honestly.

No I haven't.

Yes they are living in those countries, not walking hundreds/thousands of miles to try and live in the US. You can't be this obstruse.. well actually of course you can.

Yes you can, they would call themselves refugees escaping from crime ridden counties or oppression. I'm not saying they are all that but that is a way to enter looking for a better life that the country you came from.

Clever you. I'm sure lots of us entered the exact same way when we went to the US because that is the only way to enter unless you want try and enter Canada illegally or a Central/South American country and then walk to the border.

Its not a race issue for me. its a race issue for a big part of the Republican Party and all of MAGA. Trump and the likes of MTG say it out loud. Funny you can't see to hear it. Elon has heard it yet he still is pushing this content but with no actual answers on how to deal with it.

Every country has a border yes. I would say the vast majority don't have walls or even fences away from border crossings. The wall would have been a waste of money and wouldn't have stopped the problem. It was a Trump vanity project pure and simple and even Republicans saw that and so didn't fund it.
