Vader if worst comes to the worst... wait till the 146's get in stock at one of several online stores seeing as there's a good chance they'll be CABYE 0540'2 again, and sell the CAB2E. :)
Yep just got mine today - still priming 2.7Ghz 300fsb * 9.

aye :) cheers for all the help - i was limited to the NF3 Ultra boards because I couldn't afford to upgrade gfx cards - I have an ax800 XT PE which I can't afford to replace atm :(

Im happy enough for the moment with it at 2500 - i'll just see it s a free cpu upgrade when I get a new board :)

Just come back home from being at work all day, CPU is still going under SP2004, currently 10hours 16mins in and happily sitting under 40 degrees load.
This is a 144 CAB2E for the new comers, heres the OC setup.

311x9 = 2800 @ 1.55v (set to 1.6 in the bios)
Memory set-up as default with a 133Mhz divider running at 200Mhz (stock)
The LDT bus is at x3 which is slightly below the 2000Mhz target.

I'll get some screenies done of all the test results and post a healthier message in a bit.

Now running prime @ 300fsb, x9 multi = 2700Mhz +0.1v in bios
133Mhz memory frequency divider = 200Mhz @ 3v vdimm mushkin lv2 black 23382t.

Multiplier of 9 on a 146?

Well I am kinda dissapointed and happy with my Opteron 144 CABNE 0540 BPMW. Unhappy because it tops out at 2.7GHz with 1.58 v core, but happy because its still a 900MHz overclock, and inbetween FX-55 and FX-57 speeds.

Can't complain but would have liked a touch more!

You dont want much...you just got 900mhz for free!!!

A couple of years ago they didnt have single CPU's that could manage that... I think I *** in my pants the first time I owned 1Ghz CPU

I was getting a 1ghz OC on 1700+/1800+ DLT3C's over three years ago using air-cooling... then a bit later on the Mobile 2500+ barton. It's nothing new. :)

Nah i'm not hardcore compared to a lot of people mate, not by any means... I just absorb a lot of info (through excessive/obsessive reading when I get interested in something) and go form there. It's just a case of knowing what to buy and when to buy... the OC then comes from there and trial and error through experience. :)

Until recently I stopped being in the hardware race as I realised it was just a waste of cash and social time... being really hardcore requires investing a LOT of money regularly into a rig, which iu'd rather spend on having a good time out of my roomk to be honest. However with the release of the opterons and the 7800 serties it just proved too tempting not to get back in to. :D

Just got my CAB2E from Minstadave.

Nearly had a heart attack when i tryed to install the CPU, wouldnt go in, so i thought Hmmm. Pulled it out and looked at the pins to discver a good 6 - 8 pins bent, some quite severly.

/shock

I must have spent at least an hour operating on my poor chip, using a pair of cumber some tweasers, my fingernail and a cable tie i eventaully got the staright, and it went in the socket with a little push ( i wont be removing it for a long time :P )

Am sitting here at 2940Mhz tho, F@H stable, will test for everything else tommorow.

3Ghz sends it into a BSOD when loading windows, it restart and loops over.

am sitting at 1.65v, havent tried for lower voltages yet.

The only thing is my memory isnt really liking the whole situation, am currently running on 133Mhz divider, so getting 210Mhz on RAM, will have to look into that.

Some screen shots as promised.

System:
CPU: 144 CAB2E 0540 FPMW
Motherboard: DFI NF4 Ultra-D
RAM: 2x1GB TwinMOS PC3200 UCCC
Graphics: Saphire X800 GTO2
HDD: 2x WD 36GB Raptors RAID-0
Cooling: TRight XP120, 125CFM YS-Tech
PSU: Enermax Liberty 500W

Setup:
311 HTT x9 = 2800Mhz
RAM on a 133Mhz divider @ 200Mhz
LDT Bus x3
Volts: 1.55v (1.6 in bios)
Temps: 27-29 idle 39-42 load
Everything else stock, including ram timings and all other voltage settings

...

I don't understand my CPU :( it's just so unstable, it's really odd, extended stress now showing that even 2500 is not stable :( and it's a CAB2E - I really hate my motherboard

grr!!! I've tried it with ram at such slow speeds and slack timings and with voltage as high as I dare (1.6v) temps under load are around 48C.

I'll be having nightmares tonight.. yeesh. Did you put it in the wrong way initially or something? I've never had a problem with installing a socket 939 chip, just make sure the little lever is up, drop the CPU in (should see it fall into the holes) and push the lever down.

Nice results there mate. You ran SP2004 for almost the exact same amount of time I did for my CAB2E, freaky, spiritual bond? :p

Sold mine now, was a good chip, but I want 3G so hopefully getting my mitts on a 146. :D

This is going on the members market on Sunday, i'm back to my 146 CABYE with extensive tests. Its under OCCT at 3Ghz 1.5v currently 20% in. My 146 will do 3.1Ghz SuperPi 32M stable, just not tried anything else.

Expect a 10hr run of SP2004 again tomorrow with my 146 at 3.1Ghz (as long as OCCT and S&M pass that is)
