The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

I got a strange one here for you all I can bench at 2.8 np on 1.4v when I go to [email protected] will not bench any program.
sp2004/prime95/occt it will run memtest and has for the last 18 hours passed and also superpi 32mb and passed that as well very slow as ram on low divider.
so I thought ok install a fresh xp so with it at 3.0 I installed xp all played nicely tried to bench no go but I have played cod2 for the last 2 hours np
O and this is on my 146 cabye 0540fpaw

Hmmmmm, a competitor had 146's in stock yesterday.... Status is back on pre-order now. Apparently they were CABYE 0540 FPMW and CABYE 0540 FPAW cores. I nearly ordered one, but it's just taking the michael tbh. I could have gone straight to 2.6ghz with my current Geil memory (which does hold me back a bit), instead of 2340mhz. But I've gotta net up the funds to break even from my last purchase (Op 144, Epox 9NPA+) before any more 'upgrade' activity. And I can't really be bothered with all this willy-waving anyway :p :D

Besides, my Geil memory is giving me some very nice bandwidth (for cheap ram) at the current settings which I'm happy with!

200Mhz is a big jump for any extra voltage. Nothing unusual about that.

My 146 CABYE is the same as well. In fact, it does 2.9Ghz prime stable for at least 1/2 hour at 1.4v, but won't even complete super-pi at 3.0 on any voltage.

Well here are my latest results:

290*9 @ 2.61Ghz
CPU @ 1.6v
Chipset @ 1.65v
Dimm @ 2.6v
RAM @ 2.5.3.3.6 on a 133Mhz Divider

SuperPi 1M @ 35s and 32M @ 32m 19s
AquaMark3 @ 74619
3dMark01 @ 26042
3dMark03 @ 12234
3dMark05 @ 6210
Prime95, OCCT and SP2004 fail everytime

Temps are 36 idle and 43 under load

Think I just snagged a bargain.

A CABYE 0540 FPBW Opteron 146 for 115 notes. Seems too good to be true, the way I see it is if the seller knows about steppings he wouldn't be giving one of these away. Worth a gamble though I think. ;)

I've just come home to see my 146 CABYE (3Ghz) fail SP2004 after 9 hours 44mins, how much does that suck! was probably the voltage was too low, i'll give another all-dayer tomorrow with the volts at 1.55v.

hi. Are these still clocking well? I currently have a venice 0523 DPAW (<--poo) which is on 2.5Ghz with 1.62V and was wondering if these are clocking well enough for me to justify shovelling £110 to replace it. Has there been any cases of any opty's not even managing 2.6?

Cheers,

Mul

^^ and knowing my luck I'll get a "1 in a million" poor clocker. Ah well Got someone that'll take my Venice 3000 off me for £80 so it's worth a go :)

For reference, and for anyone who has just looked in this thread, my Opty CABYE 0540 FPAW (146) does 2.5 on stock volts :)

It feels like it'll need like 1.55/1.575 to get to 3GHz. which is further than I want to go on the stock cooler :)

Right so I have built my 1st A64 rig today and having my first attempt at overclocking really and this is what I have managed so far....not really sure where to go from here, any pointers guys??

Just got it a little quicker....still can't get to complete Super PI at 3.01Ghz but can boot into windows and is stable at 1.45v on stock air :D

This is pretty good though I think, especially only on 1.425v :D

More testing I think, and all this on the Asrock Dual939 Sata2 mobo, excellent £44!!
