The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Well that my rig pretty much up and running.

Just followed the research i done from various forums and peeps. Managed to get the opy installed first time without any problems. So got my system smooth and stable without any real issues before i start raising the speed.

Like to thank the guys that gave help and James Miller in particular. Time to clock my CABYE and get some high speeds

Kyo

P.s hmmm updated my signature but it not appearing....strange

Hi 4Q, I fear your right. pretty mad it will withstand hours of gaming and prime torture but just a simple task like checkin my emails will cause a bsod
keep trying to reassure myself by running prime for hours but i doubt it will help matters.

Well i really think it would have to be the ram, well from my experience. I take it you have tried Memtest etc.

Its also stange but i was getting this my OCZ TCCD and i run a burnin on test 8# for well over 12hrs and got 0 errors and ive not had one crash since.

Well i hope it works out.

Sweet, they are supose to be hitting as much as the CABYE 0540. Ive seen one at 3.4Ghz.lol

NICE, looking forward for some results.

yup lol around 80-90% (test #8) my ram would fail constantly getting a handful of errors at 2.7volts, running it at 2.8volts would allow it to pass memtest. I was told to flash to the 623-3 bios which worked allowing it to run stock speeds at just over 2.6 volts just like it did in my old shuttle system. since then I've upped the voltage again just for the sake of it and cycled memtest for a good few hours with no errors, but still this bsod.
yeah i to think its strange, and I'm startin to get a little miffed with its unusual behaviour, this ram must go lol

Mate id go with T2 for a while and see if its still happens. It will take a lot of pressure off the Ram. Also my TCCD sucks above 2.7v gving all sorts of problems altho all is differnt.

Id stick with the ram idea and maybe change a few things to see what happens. Also memtest may show 0 erros but the ram can still cause BSOD's.

I had mine memtest stable for 4-5hrs once and it would reset and BSOD now and then, gave it the Burnin and its bot srashed since.

Only a couple of hours so far but its been doing some superPi 32mb and 8mb test without a hitch. The big test is an hour or so on Battlefield2!

The m/board is an old Abit av8 which its fits perfectly, no issues at all. I think the board will be the weakest link in the chain though. I'm not sure whether it'll handle 3gigs but I'm certainly going to give it a try!

I'll put up some screenies of the install and cpu-z/superpi later on.

Does the Abit AV8 have the KT800Pro chipset with the working AGP/PCI lock?

lol ,of course it will ;)

Its the same core as the FX chips

that is way too high, you will prob see 60C under load running prime & a oc cpu should be kept 50C or lower under load if you dont wanna loose it

removing the ihs wont make it stable or overclock further, it will only reduce temps

Yea it might if he's only just off the 'stable/cool' limit ,lower temps might allow a slightly higher speed at a lower vcore.

Just finished putting my rig together. The case (Wavemaster) though has pretty hopeless cooling so I'm sitting at ~38C @ stock. Not sure whether to OC it now or not? Any suggestions?

You haven't specified any stepping but I think you can easily reach 2.6 pretty easy even using stock cooler.
