The ORange Box on STEAM!!!!

Don't suppose I could download Steam and then download the game once I've logged into my account? Or would I need the install DVD?
If you have an account and can still log in then you can download any games that you've bought on any computer as long as you're the only one logged in at any time

The whole idea behind steam is that you dont need the install media, you can just download it

Runs off to download Steam......

Thanks for that. Will give it a go.

Well, I've logged in ok to Steam and I'm currently downloading CS:S.

Have a feeling it might ask me for the DVD to activate. Hope not, otherwise it'll be a while before I can play!

I'm hoping it should be ok. Quite good as this way I don't need to install HL2, HL2 Deathmatch and Lost Coast.

huh, im sure valve once stated that TF2 and portal were going to come 'free' with ep2.
Well thank the lord i can give a friend my HL2+ep1 that i get in orange box(i already have them)

Oh wait, dont, since whos going to want those and then have to buy ep2+tf2+portal seperate.
This is a pretty annoying package, im a fan of steam but with all these packages im getting peed off more and more, any game that seems to be in a package is priced uncompetitively as a standalone =/

its a fantastic price for what your purchasing and amazes me how many are moaning about it, i'd happily pay £27 for the three new games ,, anyways ...

Valve has announced that pre-orders for The Orange Box have begun, and those that do order the package before October 10 will have access to the Team Fortress 2 beta next week.

"The Orange Box-featuring Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, as well as the complete Half-Life 2 experience to date-is now available for pre-purchase via Steam, a leading online platform for the distribution of PC games. Those who pre-purchase the PC edition via Steam before October 10th will save 10% off the $49.95 regular price and get exclusive access to the Team Fortress 2 beta.

As a special bonus, those who pre-purchase The Orange Box via Steam will also receive a copy of Peggle Extreme. PopCap and Valve have teamed up to create a special edition of the game cited by MSNBC.com as one of the "Top 5 Most Addicting Games of All Time."

This is the first PC game (set) I have purchased since I abandoned the PC platforming for the 360. I intend to purchase this on the 360 too as the 99 achievements scream fun.

Installed STEAMing pos (never was a fan) for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised. It actually doesn't freeze up as it used to on my last two PC's.

I pre-loaded TOB overnight (the joys of an 18mb connection) and have Half Life 2 downloaded to check out today. I haven't played it in years. Looking forward to some TF2 action and looking to see all the old-school TFC'ers return. Just remember - TF2 won't bring back the heydays of TFC.

Sniper, sniper, sniper, sniper, mirv, mirv! Sniper, sniper, sniper, sniper, ahh mirv mirv! Gerrof moi 2forts balcony dammit!

How are you getting them for free exactly? That package is more than just TF2 on its own, alright, not by much but if you already own those games your still paying extra for nothing.

Im going to get this for definate but think I'll wait for the retail version.

If you don't believe that EP2, TF2 and Portal are worth £27 that's up to you. But with any other company you'd be paying £29.99 for Portal, £29.99 for TF2 and £29.99 for EP2, so I think it's a bargin. And if you really care that much about HL2 and EP1 just sell the codes on eBay I'm sure you'll be able to make £5. :)

Hmm, I bought the HL2 silver package way back when it was released, so that's basically HL2, CS:S, DoD:S, HL:S and all the back catalogue etc. etc. all through steam, no dvd's.

What will be the best option for me? Obviously as I already have HL2 (don't have episode 1 though) it'd be good to be able to give someone HL2 or sell it on etc. etc. So I guess waiting for the dvd release'd be the best idea? I'd quite like to preload it and also get into the TF2 beta from pre-ordering... argh what a quandry, what to do!

Bloody hell!!! bring it out now! its clearly ready... stop waiting and let us bloody game. Im not bothered bout Episode 2. Even though i cant wait to play it & well.... Portal looks hilariously good fun... But TF2... i got bored of TF1 because people were to good!!! and no newbs played!

But a fresh start on TF2!!!!! :D Rock on Valve!

Half Life 2 is the most overrated single player game ever, only reason it's popular is because of mods very few people buy hl2 for the single player mode imo.I certainly had no interest in playing it through i got bored about 30 minutes in.

I agree. now Half-Life is a different - that was the most amazing game for so many years in my opinion the fact you could get scientists and Security Guards to follow you... Then they would come any further so you blew their brains out .... lol.

HL2 was going to be the same i think... but remember when the only copy of the Alpha code was stolen from Valves email box?

and they had to delay and make again.

LOL!!!!! Thick ****'s

I caved in and ended up buying this as well.

I believe I read on the site when I purchased it that if you already own half life 2 you can give the additional copy away as a gift.
