That circle is for Connect360
For £10, it basically allows you to stream (down a home network) Music/Videos/Photos using OS X.

also, how you get the date in the menu bar at the top too? I can only get the time, and its annoying having to click to see the date... cos lets be honest, we all forget the date now and then dont we

One thing about games wallpapers, they don't come in 1280x800 resolution, thus a little editing is always needed.
