I would prefer to have everything in the water loop, more for the finished look. Based on this would you get an FE or still get a aftermarket? Of course the quick silver is the same price as the FE, although I'm thinking more evga ftw or the zotac in comparison.

The Quicksilver is based on the Gaming Z. Only difference I can tell (apart from the colour) is the backplate with an RGB MSI logo. So you're actually getting a better card for less than the equivalent (clocks wise) Gaming X.

And it looks a lot better IMO.

Getting itchy now to upgrade 970. A few deals here and there on a 1070... not as low yet as I'd like, but is the timing good for investing in a 1070?

I know Vega is round the corner but I think I'd still prefer to stick with Nvidia.

When is the Nvidia refresh happening? I imagine the refresh will happen once Vega launches?

I'm in the same boat (with a 290) but let's put it this way; You waited all this time, may as well wait till the next offerings from nvidia or AMD.

It's IMO Not the right time to upgrade, unless you need the performance.

I'm out of the loop having a baby and sorts. When is this refresh happening? I have no card at all so need to buy something sooner rather than later.

RX and i believe Vega is April ( although Vega might be pushed back as i havent heard anything in a while) and then with Ti rolling out this month. April could be a good time for you to buy a card.

personally I cant see a "refresh coming from Nvidia", if so, its the current 1080 & 1060 getting faster ram, and next cards would be start of next year at an early guess , but thats 100% guess.

guessing your gaming time is limited so budget for that haha - trying to justify " i cant game much but if i get a 1080 it'll last me longer" didn't sit well with me and i got a 1070 for a 1440p screen - I game 1 hour a week! %%%%ing hardcore , next kid in May so that may go down to 1 hour a month!

God I hope it's April. What I should be doing is wait for Vega, then either buy a 1070 or the equivalent priced Vega. Also upgrade to Ryzen 1700X at same time. Hopefully the current gaming issues would be improved by then. Getting hard to hang on tho.

that was the message i received, RX refresh as a given as well, for some reason I vision 1st week May store time, but time will tell...

1700x, why not the 1700 over it and a solid board , K7 or Taichi for best overclock . will save some cash

Prices on the 1070 are dropping a little, but not a huge amount... £340 looks about best right now. Bigger question is whether to get a 1080, which is seeing much bigger price drops following the 1080Ti announcement - I've seen prices as low as £430.

As said above, prices are likely to keep shifting over the next 2 weeks, but given how close we are to the new AMD cards hitting the market, I would try to wait until then if you can.

Snapped up a nice price on the 1070 Seahawk EK so out with the 390.... really nice to be able to play around with all the settings plus it runs way cooler!

Also got some nice clocks out of it. +120/+720 (micron) stable.

If you mean the voltage slider yes its up +100 I found it didn't make much difference to my final stable clock.

I believe pascal gpu is voltage locked to something like 1.090 When at full load mine reaches 1.075/1.081 with max temp in game about 39c

Quick Valley bench with ExtremeHD preset and OC settings.

thought id try and simulate Asus's Strix OC under water conditions - fan at 100% and 2 case fans directly underneath set at 100%

ashes bench left, FireStrike Extreme right = Score 8951 with i5 7600k @4.9 , 10020 GPU score

+135 core or 1910 Boost using Asus TweakII

Phanteks GPU block hopefully being shipped at end of the month !!!!

had to dail down the core from 1920 Boost as started to get black glitches but still completed bench marks, not sure if water will help push it a little more

anyone else notice using Kaby Lake that XOC states CPU temp 10c higher???

Also something that annoys me! At the moment with my [email protected] and 970, DX11 in BF1 is smooth at 1200p! DX12 is a stutter fest. Now is this my CPU or my GPU that's the issue?

I've got 16Gb of ram already.

How many of you are able to run DX12 no problems in BF1?

It's the game, dx12 is rubbish in BF1.

In some games BF1 being one of them at release (not sure if it's better now) a 4c/4T processor is a bottleneck now.

Just turn up the eye candy or limit FPS to 80 or something and your good to go. Unless of course your using a 120hz+ monitor.
