The Pascal GTX 1080 Ti Owners Thread

I
I have a Gigabyte Gaming OC 1080 Ti, The card has coil whine and the fans are pretty loud (it gets upto 76 degrees) - massivley dissapointed. I've opened an RMA. I don't want a replacement card, just my money back. It's a real peice of crap the cooler on the Gigabyte, you need the beefier coolers like the Aorus / Frozor / Amp Extreme otherwise its a toasty card.

Gigabyte the cheap gets didnt even put a back plate on it. absolute scumbags.

waited 5 weeks for this pile of crap,

my picutre sums up how i feel about gigabyte.

It's not good enough when you are paying that much for a GPU

@digitalx Its the same cooler as my Gigiabyte G1 Gaming 1070 - and to be fair the cooler was just enough to keep temps down on that card. When i compare the two cards i can see extra heat pipes on the 1080 Ti vs the 1070 but its just not good enough as the card heats up to ~75C and under-clocks the card further. all Pascal cards throttle from 32C by 12mhz for every 10C. After 52C they drop 24mhz per 10C after 72C even more apparently.

Yeah definitely wouldn't be happy with that.

But having said that it's to be expected. It's an air cooled card and has no beefier cooler for the extra heat and ref board which at the minute is known for coil whine.

I'd certainly return it and go for a better AIB card with a better beefed up cooler and pcb. Always worth the slight extra cost when air cooling.

Ok i ran into a problem and its ******* me right off..........
not sure if its the card or the cable or the tv LOL

hdmi 2.0b out to hdmi 2.0a in from TI to LG OLED 6b

Everytime i connect the cable i get freezing windows then unfreeze for a split second to freeze again and the display on the tv is trying to engage keeps giving a picuture saying HDR then vanishes then comes back then vanishes.....
dont know how to fix it.. is there a bug with TI and LG b6 OLED ? when i do get a picuture before it vanishes i see sprites/sprinkles or white pixels then vanishes again.... then comes back lol
the cable i bought aswell is this one :
I cant see there being a issue with the cable unless its not a true 2.0a or 2.0b bandwith cable :

KabelDirekt 5m HDMI Cable compatible with HDMI 2.0a/b, 2.0, 1.4a (Ultra HD, 4K, 3D, Full HD, 1080p, HDR, ARC, Highspeed with Ethernet) - PRO Series

edit: i hope its just the cable but i somehow cant see it being the cable......

Hey guys I been having this dilemia for the past week, wanting to buy 1080TI, I have chosen ZOTAC AMP EXTREME as it looks to have best cooling capabilites, but I have also seen this MSI Sea Hawk X.
Now the question is , which one is going to be better? I dont mind spending extra £80 if its really worth it.

Could be wrong but it might just be the length causing signal degredation (my personal experience with display port not hdmi), if i remember, when i used to run over display port, 2 m's is max recommended and i ran into some issues over that. Hopefully your 2m will sort it. Obviously some cables are better than others but this is why i bought nvidia shield TV. Just got to run one more cat 6 cable in cavity and I'm good to go :D

What would be the best Air Cooled 1080 TI? I have found MSI Gaming X for £750 and ZOTAC AMP EXTREME/AORUS for £800? Zotac seems to be the biggest which I like, could anyone suggest ?

Though most here will understand that vendors will send the best binned cards free to reviewers so any enthusiast will understand mileage may vary from any manufacturer. There isn't so much GPU silicon lottery when you are the AIB partner and have pallets of the things to select from for reviews.

Asus and MSI would send in the best binned samples also, hence all are equal and the Gigabyte model is the best :)
