The Pascal Titan X and XP Owners Thread

exactly this I totally agree with you, now their have been rumors about Vega coming forward to October I don't think that's going to happen, but it is going to be out Jan/Feb time and with Nvidia always getting one up on AMD expect them to launch Ti around a month earlier and yes people are bonkers if they think nvidia are going to rely on a £800 Ti as being their 'mainstream' high end card to compete with big vega. some people can't accept the fact 1080 price will go down quite a fair bit when Ti launches, I say £650-£700 for the Ti with the 1080 coming in around £525-£550 all speculation at this moment. I'd be willing to bet that by christmas we'll have info and with my new full time job and not part time job, and no commitments, I'll be able to save up and as soon as Ti launches grab a pair hopefully in time for christmas so santa can bring me the goods :D

I still have a feeling the 1080 Ti will be based on the GP104, after looking at the pcb with missing stuff it makes sense to just carry on with GP104 with more cores bringing it 15% faster or even 20% faster than the 1080 ( 10% slower than titan XP) and still carrying the 8gb memory and pricing it maybe starting £649-699 & lowering the price of the 1080 slightly, would make a lot more sense than releasing a 12gb 1080ti with less cores

i would think about buying one of these only the last time i bought a titan x the 980ti came out like a month or two later with nearly the same benchmarks on games which left a bit of a sore taste :( i even sold my titan x for a 980ti because i couldnt stand the noise of it. so i think ill wait for 1080ti hopefully that will be as powerful as the new titan x

impossible for it to be a GP104 GPU as the 1080 is rocking a fully unlocked gp104 and can't get any more out of it. 1080 Ti will be gp102 how many cores it has is a mystery, and depends on what AMD do and decide to pull their finers out there ***

to all the people saying there is no 1080 Ti give this video a quick look at at 2:17:45 Tom petersen comments on 1080 Ti when asked about it,
"what about GTX 1080 Ti"
"omg that would be an unreleased product of which I can not comment on at this time"
unless I'm reading into it a bit too much is it safe to say with Tom saying this that we can expect a Ti?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9BbUqHrWFI

Tom is awesome, but he's also a bit of a joker. If it were a reality at the time, he wouldn't have said it. We know TXP is cut back, i fully expect to see another card next year.

Lol that link.

how do we know its the fully unlocked gp104? I never read that anywhere

Coming from 2x 980Ti, I couldn't be happier, and I think I might have finally "won" the silicon lottery(?)

120% Power, default fan, my TXP boosts to 1875MHz and only throttles down to around 1770MHz.

Gotta resist the urge to SLI...

OR they could do something they haven't done for years release 1085 further cut back from Titan and when AMD have something to fight back bring out a Ti will all 3840 cuda cores or vice versa have the Ti cut back and the 1085 using the full chip? I'm tired and I'm making random speculation and don't think this will ever happen still you never know :p

Well i'm pretty sure i'll hang on to my 1080s until the boys here have EK blocked and overclocked the TXP... Very interested to see the clocks and results which will tell me if i'm going to trade in for one or not. Brexit pricing sucks but its kinda nice that recent price increases mean I literally have nothing to lose (prob gain) no matter what I choose to do.

Looking forward to the underwater results people, it looks like a hell of a card!

Cards with all in one coolers are hitting 2.1GHz... so full block will only be similar or a little bit better.

I'm rather impressed by that - I didn't expect the TPX to hit the same clock speeds as 1080

The 780 was cut back from the already cut down Titan so don't worry, there will be a cut down card from the Titan X P sooner or later. I think a few people are in denial of the history and present of NVIDIA. If they remember correctly, the 780 came out a few months after the original Titan, just because they wanted to make a shedload of more money. This was well before they released a faster card than the Titan to compete with the AMD 290X.

Some people have got it in their heads that NVIDIA will only release a cheaper card close to this performance to compete with AMD. Right now, unfortunately, NVIDIA are just competing with themselves to see how much money they can bank. History shows us that a cheaper cut down card comes in this November at the latest, as this short time frame has been true after the last two Titan releases.

The deficit in Cuda cores on a cut down card should be balanced with the much higher factory boost clocks and far superior cooling to hold them (on non leaf blower mode) from aftermarket brands. A cut down card on this chip will sell by the bucketload, NVIDIA knows this. The Titan is some weird sort of halo product that actually makes people think a £800 card on this chip is like a bargain. Don't be surprised if NVIDIA know it's better to sell 10,000 cut down cards at £800 rather than 1000 Titan X cards at £1100.
