****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Could it be a two-stage strategy? Bring out the Slim first at full retail price so that the "must-have-new-gadget" brigade get it and then as that novelty wanes near the Christmas shopping season in November, whack the price down to £249 or something.

I agree with this, end of the day they need to get rid of the PHAT stock as the SLIM is essentially it's replacement, once the stock is adequately depleted then drop the price of the SLIM.

Just got in from work, love it, day one for me, look how thin it is, that's crazy !

Is there any difference in noise/power usage between the 60gb and the 40/80gb?

Launch (90nm Cell / 90nm RSX) was 200W
40GB (65nm Cell/ 90nm RSX) was 160W
80GB (65nm Cell / 65nm RSX) was 130W

I have had the original 60gb but currently own the 40gb sku, I would definitely say that the 40gb is quieter, and I know a lot of people say that the 80gb is considerably quieter than the original 60gb.

I do keep forgetting about the free online play, but that aside a moment I think the PS3 120 gig vs xbox 360 120 gig are comparable, but what about the other xbox models?

How are they comparable when one has Blu-Ray, Free on-line play, Rechargeable Controller as standard, Built-in Wireless receiver, Blue-tooth, and is quieter, better build quality, and estimated at around ten times more reliable in terms of failure rate.

For £20 more

Second hand is always an option obviously, I'm talking about buying New

Your right, unless he purchases one second-hand I can't see him owning one until the PS4/720 hits, but then by that time he won't want one and will he'll saying "I'll buy a PS4 when it hit's £149" :p
