It is. It's clearly being held by a white gloved technician and you can see straight through the optical disc slot to the pink cloth behind.Looks like just the lid to me.
It will be slimmer but not 'that' slim.![]()

Why get so excited about that, my 2 year old, 180W using 60GB model is already quiet enough for comfort.Yeah - TBH i'm most interested in the 45nm power saving. If (as suggested) it's 40% lower than the current 110w rating of the 80gb board then that's quite a drop!![]()
PS2 is thinner and is able to be stand up vertically,

Although you need stand.
I completely understand - it's just from an 'every little helps' point of view it's a good thing. Much in the same way my low power HTPC only uses 60w rather than a normal PC's 150-180w.And at three hours a day usage the power difference is less than a quid a month.
It would mean that it can be physically smaller and it saves a lot of heat inside the enclosure.I too would be a little surprised if they did use an external PSU - but it's not impossible to imagine... they have done it before with the PS2 remember.
It would but then it would also have the additional power brick in tow too.
When compared to the 360 i find the PS3 a lot nicer to move/transport due to it being all one item.
Quite honestly it won't effect me unless my beloved 40gb dies.
