****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Makes sense for sony to release a new ps3 soon, if it was released at the xbox 360 premium price I reckon it would be a major success.

I think it looks awesome! But definately need to keep with the piano black plastic, even though it's an absolute beeyotch to keep clean :)

I'd only hazard a guess looking at those pictures that they're prototype and not anywhere near completion (IE colouring scheme, finish, chromed etc). I'd be more than happy with it if it looked like that (as long as a price cut was coming ;D)

I'd say a price cut, both in terms of cost to manufacture and retail was the main point. Sony has established itself in the next gen software stakes now it needs a console that can capitalise. The ps3 is currently too highly priced to really win in the mainstream.

The thing is though they have repeatedly told us that they're not planning a price cut so I bet they're doing it to save money and actually turn a profit. I really do hope it's a price cut though. saying that I still wouldn't get it for £200.

Just absolutely

eh?

It seems pretty main-stream to me. Or do you mean it's too high priced to become the market leader? In which case your right.

Even if they do reduce the size the production cost is still very high and lot of the parts Cell and Blu-ray drive haven't dropped really at all to make so I think if they do go small it will cut some extras out.

If you had consulted the thread you'd realise that 45nm will mean it's cheaper and if it was beef it wouldn't be a slim.

No it doesn't mean it's cheaper to buy. All it means is that it is cheaper to produce.

Of course Sony could pass these savings on to the customer but that is completely up to them.

Wasn't talking about using a bag specifically (although i'd get a bigger bag if you're having problems! ;)) it was more about the convenience of having an 'all in one' unit.

Much nicer! :)

It makes pretty much zero difference. I can't believe that you think having no power brick is such a major perk.
