****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

What they should do is offer a no hard drive model and let people add their own then they could probably do it for a bit less even.

It's still way out of reach for your average console gamer which lets face it is probably mainly kids.

Blu ray films are a very niche market one that your average kid with a ps3 just isn't interested in.Personally I don't know anyone that actually even pays for dvd / hd/hdtv or music these days.

But you need an HDD in the first place, for games that have mandatory installations. It wouldn't work out any cheaper for the consumer either, because no doubt Sony pays peanuts for the HDDs it uses.

C64 you don't really know what you are talking about do you?...

Blu rays very niche? Don't know anyone who pays for movies?

But its target market isn't your average console gamer; it's people who want an easy to use multimedia machine, with blu-ray and gaming capabilities at a reasonable price. Which it is considering everything it does.

Sony aren't trying to compete (at least not too much), price-wise, with Microsoft and Nintendo as they see the PS3 as hitting a considerably different market to either of them.

I think your the one coming accross as immature now i'll leave it at that then before more ps3 fanboys start crying over the price cuts.

I did pay a lot for my PS3 - but I have sufficient funds left in my kitty, so I'm not really bothered dude ;)

In fact, I have enough to legally purchase my media, as opposed to stealing it like your sea dog buddies :o

Also, you really need to read this.

What are you talking about? You were just spouting crap it had nothing to do with fanboys or price cuts lol.

The average age of gamers is 35, hardly a kid with no interest in BD, the BD uptake is already faster than that of DVDs so for many it is a plus point. People pay for media as its illegal not to in most cases.
As for a no HDD model its a no go, part of Sony plan was to put a HDD in each machine and allow devs to use it as they see fit. The HDD is also used to cache stuff from the BD drive and some of the Firmware is stored on each HDD.

personally think this slim model looks naff, not excited about it at all. It just looks plain and dull with the logo in the wrong place. Not a patch on the PS2 phatte to slim

Even PS2s cost more then £50 in most shops

He means the trade in value for his old one. (i.e. trade in phat ps3 for 200 and pay 50 more to get a slim).

I am tempted but I dunno what the trade in value of a 60gb would be. I doubt the high street trade in places (the only places that take trade and sell new slims) would pay more for a 60GB unit as their target consumers would not really care about the differences.

If I could get £200 trade in value against a new slim, I would do it, but I know that is not likely :(

Was looking about online for the slimline one a couple of days ago, didn't see much about it, then had an email from PS today telling me the slimline is out 1st Sept...I really want one now. :(
