****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

For me the logic behind people saying the ps3 is overpriced is because apart from a few exclusives most of the best games are identical graphically and sonicly and gameplay wise to the 360.

At the moment it's nothing more than an overpriced 360 once you are done with the exclusive games, even though I do understand peoples point of view when it comes to having to buy wireless adapter/ hard drives etc for 360.But what if you prefer a wired connection and a battery charger is no big deal costs £9-99 or less and if you download your films like most do bluray is irrelevant apart from video heavy games like mgs4 of course.

I am tempted to dump my 360 so I can use a g25/g27 wheel for gt5 not to mention games like uncharted 2 and god of war 3 though.

Not really sure what your point is, to be honest. You've basically said "It's an overpriced 360 once you exclude everything that makes it a PS3".

That didn't really make sense. You countered all your arguments. :p

No I have tried pointing out that most people don't care about bluray and the other inbuilt features of ps3 they just care about playing games.

Well lets say I want to play moden warfare 2 street fighter Iv fifa 10 etc why would I go and pay £100 more than I need to to get the exact same gaming experience.
What I am trying to say is that most people don't need or want blueray or care about in built wireless or recharging gamepads.

Why buy a console at all when you can play all those on the PC.

:P

Well for a start pc fifa stinks and isn't even next gen and sf4 isn't really as good online for pc compared to 360 not to mention the cheating on pc games.

Oh and the need for constant upgrades to play games looking their best and crashes bugs and fiddling around with stuff.

The comment was just a quick jab really, nothing else.

I just get tired of the <insert console name #1> is better/worse than <insert console name #2> because of <reason> arguments because both consoles have their ups and downs. Such as you can't outright call a Playstation 3 and "overpriced 360" when peoples reasons for buying either console are not going to be the same. If you want it to purely play games, you figure out which console has the games you mostly want when you take into account exclusives, then pick. If BluRay interests you, then you might lean towards a Playstation. If more of your mates own 360's, then you lean in the other direction.

Praising one and pointing out a flaw with the other is just stupid, since neither are perfect... like people saying the Playstation 3 is overpriced, which may or may not be true. If you consider than it includes a BluRay drive and you'd use it for movies, and also consider than the PSN is free, then you might think it's good value. But if you play all your games offline and have no use for the BluRay player then you may consider it too be overly priced for your needs.

Since when were you the officially elected voice of the people?! :p

I know there are roughly 20+ million PS3 owners who would disagree with that :o

There are so many more things to consider than that.

I bought the PS3 for games, kept it for the Blu-Ray and media features.

Back then I didn't even have an HDTV. Now that I do, I love watching HD movies and HD tv shows.

Or not :p

It's always going to be down to the individual. Broad comments will never sit well with me. They're silly.

when people come on here saying, "There's no games on 360."

It's annoying, because it's blatantly going to annoy the people who love the games on 360.

Too many people do it. And it's why a lot of threads have to be cleaned or locked.

I originally bought the PS3 for it's Blu-Ray capabilities. The fact that it did games was a bonus.

It's still that way but now there are actually good games to play ;)

Does anyone have any idea what's going to happen with the delivery date on the slim. The 31st of August is a bank holiday yet most companies are guaranteeing launch day delivery? Hopefully that means some early deliveries for all who ordered.

A lot of the retailers will start receiving their stock from the 24th August from what I've heard, and people who pre-order would be receiving their Slim's early as a result, or at least anytime from 25th August to the first week into September.

Perhaps true to some extent, but it doesn't mean those features shouldn't be there. People used to get annoyed with Sony in the PS1/PS2 era for charging so much for extras (the multitap for example), now they've put almost everything you need into the console, people are annoyed about the console price instead. These companies do have to make money somewhere.

To be honest, I'm willing to bet that the next PlayStation won't be nearly as fully-featured as the PS3 is (comparatively). It's a fantastic bit of hardware but from their point of view, they'll see it as a lesson learned and they'll probably go towards the usual way of doing things again. Shame really, it seemed like console gaming was finally moving away from all that proprietary, overpriced crap.

LOL

Loads of people bought the PS3 as a blu-ray player first. As they were same/cheaper than stand alone player. Not sure how much a decent player is now but they can't be much cheaper than a slim.
