****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

It takes 5 seconds to find a match, on championship or ranked mode. Not ideal, but hardly a deal breaker. I know on the 360 you get matches faster (when selecting manually, in my experience it is no faster if you pick Fight request mode etc.)

I don't know anyone who found it so bad they felt the need to sell their stick and copy an buy the game a second time on the 360.

It took me far, far longer than 5 seconds to join a match using the server browser.

I didn't use arcade mode request because some idiot always joins with a poor connection. I only play yellow or higher games and the PS3 had a distinct lack of them, when I did find them I could rarely connect.

I play loads of games with 0 bars most days (I just hammer X on the server browser regardless of which game is in the list) and they are fine. I sometimes get lag in about every 10 matches or so but sometimes that person had 5 bars, sometimes 0, I don't think you can judge the lag from the bars (although you should be able to :) )

Sorry to hi-jack, but my question doesn't warrant a whole thread :p

Sold my PS3 on an auction site.. all was well, got positive feedback, paid promptly by PayPal yadda yadda. Anyway, was over a mates last night and the buyer is now saying the PS3 is freezing and such he wants a full refund.

The item clearly states no refunds, and I sold this in 100% perfect working order so I believe he's trying to pull a fast one; but where do I stand?

I've asked him to try a full reformat but he claims it's made no odds. Best I can think of is the hard drive is dying, but like I said it was working when I owned it (never any problems!) and he had it for 4 days before getting back to me which makes me wonder if he's noticed the Slim coming out and has decided to "bottle out".

On a related note.. was over a mates last night and it took about 30 seconds of pressing "retry" until we could join an online fight. That's the only time SF4 online has been obviously gimped. I refuse to believe that out of the whole world there are only 2 fighters available to fight. Playing championship mode we even played the same guy 4 times in 20 matches.

This is my fear with the ebay route :(. If you were the buyer and you got stuck with a freezing unit, you would just use that paypal protection, I guess. Never really used the protection myself so not certain.

He sold it working, He isnt a retailer, he doesnt have to offer a warranty of any sort, or a grace period. So he needs to hold his ground, and not refund.

I think the point is, it doesn't matter what the seller thinks as Paypal will just side with the buyer.

Best bet is to get all your money withdrawn from Paypal and then instruct your bank to block any attempts by them to debit, in preparation for the inevitable dispute.

They don't debit your bank account as this would be illegal without your permission (as far as I'm aware).

The PayPal balance goes into a negative and you're then expected to right that, otherwise it gets passed onto a debit collection agency.

EVH, I would strongly suggest that this person has seen the PS3 Slim and decided to change their mind.

Guys quick question about backup. So far I've done this:

  • Synced Trophies
  • Backed up game saves individually
  • Moved PlayTV records to XMB
  • Made sure I know my passwords for my USA/Japan accounts
  • Main backup via tool

What else do I need to do? How do I save things like DLC? Like Singstar/LBP stuff?
Also someone mentioned to de-authorise the PS3 - when do I do that? Before I put in the original HD back or after Ive backed up?

TIA

I think all the DLC is backed up when you do the main system backup. You can deauthorise anytime you like as long as you don't plan on using DLC/PSN games afterwards but definitely before you swap HDDs.

Cheers mate - just waiting for the backup to finish and will get my media saved and de-auth it before putting the old HD back and wiping that...

Trading it in today so only without a PS3 today :p. Shame no bundles turned up but Id rather get the trade-in value for the 60Gb now than wait for a better bundle and effectively pay more of the difference as the trade-in value will drop...

^^^ Yea, I know but you just know people are going to point this out in every argument.

Another video. Quite a big difference in loading times in this one.
