Didn't realise you could do this. I never use it either, it's just taking up space.
 
Hey,

Quick Q for all the guys that traded in - what "checks" do the trade in places do on your console? I assume they power on and test it? And do I need to include Ethernet, USB cables etc?

Also, do you reckon I can blag anything extra for having a DS3 instead of a Sixaxis?

Pretty sure they just power it on and try to load a disc/game.

You may get a few £ for a DS3 but don't expect the world.
 
The guy testing mine didn't even put a game in, just browsed through XMB for a bit, couldn't believe it considering they are fairly common for blu-ray issues. On the box there is a list of what is included inside, I put everything in the box but this bloke didn't really check that either. Knew I should have kept the charge cable. :D You'll have to ask about the control pad tbf they may add on the difference in trade in value of the two. If you have got games to trade in as well make sure you trade them in on a store card as you'll get an extra 20% of the value until Sept 3rd.

Ah cool, can I apply for one in-store? Also, I wanna make this switch without biting my wallet too much - all of £250 slims come with a game I see, so can I trade this straight back to them for MOAR CASH? :D If so, which game has the highest value?

Yea just ask in store, the games to choose from were: COD4, Killzone 2, Fight Night 4, latest Call of Juarez, WWE Legend of Wrestlemania and the 2nd Transformers game. You should be able to blag something different if you barter though. Think probably Call of Juarez will have the highest trade-in value.

NO. I had them check them all, COD4 was £19.50 trade in (highest), so that dropped the PS3 to £230. You don't even have to buy it cash then trade it, they knock it off the price off the bundle before you pay :) I traded 3 other PS3 games at about £10 each and the 60Gb for the rest (£198). In the end, no Cash changed hands and I ended up with a few quid of credit.

Another retailer does trade-in for Call of Juarez for £24, if you get them to match that and add the quid the PS3 is only £225.

Ah, I did not know that. I checked the other games online, apart from Juarez as I just assumed it was crap and worth a piddly amount to be honest (I took print outs of some price matches, and also just showed him the others on my phone's web browser).

Yea if you can be arsed get printouts of all your games trade-in values from the other retailer and they will beat them + the 20% you should get a fair amount.

You get £198 for your ps3 and £24 ish for the free game they give you. Your biggest decision (like mine) will be which 3-4 of your 8 games to give up to make up the £25 balance. I was umming and ahhing for ages :)

If you price match you'll get £158 for your PS3 boxed + the £25.00 for Call of Juarez = £183. So you'll need to pay £67 to get a Slim. Presuming you don't trade any other games in and that excludes the 20% extra trade in value on games as Im not sure if that applies.

Did the guys with the 60GBs swap theirs too? :eek:

It's utterly mad, swapping the same console as you're looking at the TV 99.9% of the time and not the bloody thing itself. Half of you needs to be slapped with a wet fish :p
 
Yea for me the benefits outweighed it by far, I've used BC 3 times since the PS3s launch. I'll probably regret it when they are collector's items though.
