Anyone recall how to turn off the scrolling info in the top right hand corner (latest PS3 news etc?). It is on one of my accounts and I can;t recall how to turn it off.

You used to press triangle on Whats New.

Can't now :(

Only my USA account is showing the scrolling info, my main account is not affected, I reckon whatever status you had it on pre 3.00 is what it is stuck on (until an off button is added, or found).

I never knew the PS3 was so good, been an xbox fan boy all this time, Killzone 2 is amazing, iplayer is amazing, vidzone is amazing, my god i hope i don't convert

The backup of my fat was 32Gb. I know for a fact that what has been restored does not equal 32Gb. So obviously all the game data is there but isn't getting loaded onto the slim.

Yo,

Just restored my PS3 and put the 60GB drive back in... gonna go into town tomorrow and try my luck... am I supposed to feel this sad about getting rid of my launch console? :(

Yes. My mate did a 10gb backup (included SF4 data) and the restore took less than 2 minutes and all above data was gone.

I think game data and downloads do not get restored unless it is to the same console, based on experiences in this thread.

Yea have to admit my launch did me proud but the slim looks so much better and sleeker imo that I haven't missed it at all. However I was a few bosses away from completing Shadow of the Colossus so gonna have to get the PS2 out and start again.

Just replaced my PS3 60GB with the slim and i am not impressed. The fan is quite loud, a lot more than my 60GB is this right or should i take it back for a replacement?

I'd imagine like the 60Gbs they vary a lot but if it's loud I'd get a replacement whilst it's still early days. I can't hear mine at over 2 metres it is seriously quiet, the disc drive accessing is the loudest thing. My 60Gb was noisey though so maybe it appears quieter to me.

any one else tried register there PS3 to there account, i tried to do mine on Saturday but they don't have the last part of the registration number in the drop down box for you to do it.

I almost got the slim today but i backed out , still think the original is better . I think Sony could have made the new PS3 more funky looking , its very dull & boring ! ! ! !

There are only a few points worth the hassle imho.

If you have a very good amp to decode the BITSTREAM HD AUDIO which is huge in some people eyes.

You want to pay for more warranty

The PS3 is quieter than the fat has now been blown out of the water and it very clear on this forum and others that it's pot luck like the old ps3 models.

I prefer the look of the older one but that's just me.

Already got a faulty slim and going to take it back to be swapped for a new one, error code 8002F14E when trying to update to version 3.00, reformatted the drive several times and tried via USB stick for v3.00 and even 2.80, but at exactly 49% it fails every time :(, sony support tell me to swap it out where I bought it. Hope there aren't many afflicted by this and that my new one will be fine and dandy....

Had to collect mine from TNT last night (around 7).

Spent a few hours downloading my PSN games and tweaking settings. Not sure if I might delete PlayStation Home.. I've never used it, and it uses 3GB :(

Didn't bother with the standard drive. Went and upgraded it out-the-box to a 500GB.

Impressed with the noise. My 60GB must have been louder from the years of dust but I honestly can't recall it being that quiet.

Also, it looks better in the flesh.

It's only copy-protected data that doesn't get restored.

If you look in the backup directory there is a sub directory called "SAVEDATA". I had done a full backup however I restored mine manually because it was easier, and I couldn't be bothered restoring as soon as I found out SF4 wouldn't be there anyway.
