****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Just got a PS3 Slim this afternoon. Bought it with IL2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey (which made realise my lack of PS3 when I saw the video for it!), Little Big Planet and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (preowned - looks good, dunno if it will be or not).

Might ask Santa for MGS4

I'll probably use the PS3 as a bluray player too as I'll be loaning my parents my bluray player as they are considering upgrading to blueray.

Anyway, the PS3 should be well used now the nights are fair drawing in.

-- Edit -- Played IL2 for a couple of hours last night. Amazing game!

Been playing mucho Street Fighter 4, Fifa 10, LBP and bought my daughter Bolt on Bluray for my daughter... damn. Even on my 32", and having seen HD material through my PC, Bluray is phenomenal - the sound as well should not be understated how good it is.

Looking for Soul Calibur 4 on the cheap now till Tekken, CoD:MW2 and Fifa 10 come out...

Was going to wait until after Christmas to try and pick one up with Madden 2010 for £250. But then I convinced myself that having a PS3 for the next 3 months was worth £50 - so bit the bullet and picked one up today. Going to spend the next 4 hours playing madden and then watch 9 hours of NFL. :-)

Anyone got any suggestions for good platinum games for when I get bored of Madden and GTAIV?

Think im going to have to order a new one my ps3 has bit the bullet and broke :(
Out of guarantee and was making loud fan noises for ages the br drive is not working now and getting a error code 80010201 that pops up at start up .

Also get a network error 80130128 so im ****** off to say the least

What can i do if anything or what would be best to do now ?
Ive got killzone 2 still in the drive which wont eject what can i do to get that out ?

Pay Sony for a refurb (circa 140-150?) and then pull apart your old machine and remove your disc? Or buy a brand new PS3 and then dismantle the old one and get your disc.

By Blu-Ray drive stopped working but I never got an error message like you have.

btw Killzone 2 has protected saves (iirc) so you will not be able to transfer Gamesaves to the new PS3.

Well he'll just love that. His previous save corrupted and now he'll have to start again for a third time! I'd give up and go on to Modern Warfare instead. Poor bugger.

The Wii's drive sounds so much better when inserting discs and ejecting them than the PS3.

Genuine massive lol here - I mean really, you guys are now comparing the sound of ejecting disks?! :D :D :D

Do you insist on listening to the sound of a car's boot opening and closing before you buy it?

Just because someone notices these things doesn't mean he makes it part of his buying decisions. He's right, the PS3 makes an almost worrying clunking sound as it draws in a disk whereas the wii is near silent. Do these things bother me? No, but i still notice them none the less.

I'll answer seeing as I effectively started the conversation :)

It was only raised because the slim PS3's drive genuinely sounds rough, it was a surprise when I first heard it compared to other slot loading devices.

Nobody's going to base their purchase on the sound of it though - I hope! :p

I remember seeing a program many years ago about a manufacturing company for a Hi-Fi I think it was. You wouldn't believe the lengths they go to for silent ejecting etc...

If KZ2 is a protected save then theres no way to move it over to a different PS3 Im afraid...

The backup utility will save it but wont restore it on the new PS3 from my experience

ps3ud0

No bother really didnt take me long to get through it again second time :)

I will just trade it in as soon as possible and pay the extra to get a ds3 pad and game hopefully and of course a new warranty .;)

get my slim in tomorrow, hopefully a lot quieter than the 60gb i had that ylod on me. Got myself a free copy of shift too looking forward to playing it.
