****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Oh. My. God. I must be one of the unlucky ones then! :o Might need to give the place where I bought it a call. I swear. If I had to do another backup and restore of a PS3 I am going to implode!

Nope. That's it. I've had enough. It's definitely bust and it is subsequently going back. :( Can't believe it! I mean, just what the hell!! :( X1000
Very unlucky mate - though rather find it out now so its an easier swap than later in my opinion - deffo can understand the whole backup/restore being annoying - only done it twice myself but it takes loads of time to get everything how it was...

ps3ud0

Has anyone had an issue with their slim whereby it takes forever (like 10 seconds+) to sync controllers, headsets, keypad etc and sometimes it fails to sync completely?

I'm getting this issue! :(

It took time for me to resync the controllers, the BD remote took a while and had to do it twice. Its been fine ever since though, so not sure if its an isue or just some interference i had at the time but ive done it since and its been fine.

Just goes to qualify that the rest of Europe should speak English and do away with their silly faux langues. Half of that German advert was in English. Then we might get European localisation (read: no need apart from a bit of spelling 'favorite' to 'favourite' etc.) of games pronto.

To be honest as long as games are linked to UK servers, I'd be happy with total US games. You wouldn't notice a great deal of difference at all and we would have games so much earlier.

Yeah, even in the Beatles games on PS3 we get 'favorites' and another that bugs me is each track starts of with 'march 25th, 1967' .....so thats the American for 25th March 1967. But the killer one (and I cant remember which games/platforms off the top of my head) is where you choose your language by flag. So you get French flag (not Canadian) for French, Spanish flag (not Mexican etc) for spanish and then the American flag for English!

I receive my new PS3 slim yesterday , very happy but 1 problem it does make more noise then my old PS3 , not sure if to take it back ?

Anybody else finding this problem ? i sometime wear headphone so i dont notice until i take them off

Yes, but that noise seems to stay consistent, my old 40 gb was inaudible when I switched it on but after playing a game it was definitely louder than my slim, my slim seems to keep the same volume no matter how long it's been on.

Had my 360 since launch and although i have enjoyed many hours on it i must say the slim pS3 trumps is in everyway, this is coming from someone who has never used a PS3 until buying my slim last week. Just everything about it is better, sleeker, smaller, better looking, much quieter, blu ray, wireless, re-chargeable pad, can use BRAVIA Sync with my tv, able to copy things to drive.

This tbh.

Traded in my 360 for a ps3 slim last week. Lovely piece of kit. Managed to find f1 championship edition to! I'm addicted :(

Had a slim for a couple of weeks now, but due to only playing DLC I hadn't used the drive till just now.

Is anyone else's quite clunky when it ejects or accepts a disc? Sounds much rougher than my old 40GB. Not a problem, just was surprised it wasn't as smooth as I expected it to be. (only just seen that a blue LED comes on too, which is pretty :D)

Yes it is a bit more 'clunky', quite a few people have noticed this (reviewers also) it's normal tbh, I guess it's because it's a different drive, mine isn't so bad inserting disks but ejecting there is quite a loud thud, will be interesting to see if it effects the life span of the drive, I guess only time will tell.

I picked one up today.

I've never liked gaming on a console it just didn't feel right I loved the control of the KB/M (apart from driving games)

PS1 was my first I liked it but then got a PS2...got bored after GTA 3 and binned it.

played on friends XBOX and XBOX360..Still not tempted.

Got a Wii last year and sold it a month later.

Got a PS3 Slim today and I love it! it's so much more than a console!

Well priced as well £297 for PS3 Slim (120Gb) + Extra control, prince of persia, farcry 2 and GT 5 Pro

The Wii's drive sounds so much better when inserting discs and ejecting them than the PS3.

I only really noticed this when I got my 40gb and at how rough the drive sounds when spitting out discs. I remember my 60gb launch console sounding pretty much the same as the Wii's drive.

getting my slim soon :D had the original PS, 2 PS2's and still own a fat PSP :p

looking at few games:
GT5
NFS shift
OFP2
CoD MW2 (will get on pc too)

thoughs for starters. anything else i should keep an eye on?

Get the original uncharted (best...game...ever) and the first assasins creed....just so you can play the second and understand it, the first is a good game, it does repeat itself but it is still very enjoyable
