The possible end of Neogaf?

Not a site I'd go to often at all. Because of all the negative things I'd heard about it over the years.

But I was surprised to come across this.

Neogaf is reportedly preparing a statement, though the future for the website is unclear. A popular video game forum, NeoGAF counts industry figures as members and part of its community. As such, news and breaking events in the video games community often come first from the website.

Another Youtubers opinion.

It's funny, I have been kind of addicted to that toxic wastedump since 2011 when I randomly found out about it. I enjoyed ton of threads there and liked some of the people there a lot.
I even had an account for about a year before I got banned for super unbelievably petty reason. And even there I still kept reading it.
But it dying is actually great. There is so much hate and nonsense posted there...I personally dubbed it the "15 minutes of daily hate - the forum".

It’s a vile toxic cancerous skidmark and deserves to not exist so bye bye, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Sometimes I'd go to neogaf just to check the first forum page for news.
I found actually engaging in topics there was mostly a waste of time though and gave up on that long ago.
There are many intelligent and respectful posters on neogaf, but you have to wade through so much toxic rubbish and tasteless jokes from the majority to get anywhere.

I'm going to be an idiot and stick my head above the parapet because at a certain point things take on a momentum of their own.

I actually feel somewhat bereft if this is it for Neogaf. I wasn't really a big poster there, and mostly lurked the Steam Community thread, but some of the discussions there were fascinating and as a source of information gaming OT's and LTTP's/RTTP's were very fun reads. Plus when you have users there like Jshackles (Idlemaster) and Durante (DSFix, GeDoSaTo etc...etc...) there were some incredibly knowledgeable people. There were problems, some caused by way gaf was generally handled (See Amir0x), some by it's userbase (remember the size of the forum!) but as hard as gaf was to gain admittance to I valued my account.

With it potentially gone that's a slab of gaming history I'll miss.

I shall miss it. This place is really quiet compared to Neogaf so it was nice to read more postings. I could never sign up because I only have free email addresses which is probably a good thing.

Nothing wrong with Neogaf. Yes it leans to the left but so what? It's a good global community and very active. Way more active than this forum.

Its good source to find out what going on in the world. I've lurked it for years and can say there are very few toxic posters.

I used my ISP provided email. Although you'd probably end up just lurking anyway...I know that's what I generally did.
