I took this today, still can't decide if I like it or not, would probably look better if the horizon was higher. I've tried cropping, both aspect kept and not, wasn’t happy with either.

Wanted to take a lot more pics but after shot 5 may battery died (wasn't prepared so no charging beforehand or taking the AA holder for battery grip) :(

Southend?

I think this picture is quality dude. What kind of processing did you do?

James.
The first photo just looks like a panorama (a few images stitched together, google it) that might have used a circular polariser (google it) to produce the nice sky.

The second photo doesn't look like it has any processing on it apart from using a shallow dof (google it) by using a big aperture, possibly F/1.8 from the nifty fifty 50mm f/1.8 lens (google it), the background blur is called bokeh (google it) that's the effect you get, nicer lenses generally produce better IQ and better bokeh.

James07 that one is a panorama of 5 vertical photos. I used a program called autostitch it only does jpg's. so i had to convert to jpg first. For those shots the exposure was for the sky, so thats why there is a lot of detail there. The water and land was rather dark and under-exposed so i had to brighten that up separately to the sky using levels. I think i also did some levels to the sky to darken the blue and make the clouds stand out. And a little bit of unsharp-mask.

that was without any editing, after being stitched. Ive also sent you an email, more or less the same. I think i might have boosted the saturation of the water so it didnt look so muddy.

Same man, what did kind of porcessing did you do?

Can you alaso email me please. Cheers.

James.

RandomTom got it pretty much spot on. No processing to speak of, only it was taken with the kit lens on my 400D :) (only had the camera a week so not got any other lenses yet, but a 70-200F4L is being ordered on payday :D)

I thought this guy was a character worth photographing anyway, before lifting his newspaper to add a bit of amusement to the shot...do you think the yellow wall needs desaturating a bit?
