RAF Lockheed Tristar. Taken from my back garden, damn noisy things![]()
not half as noisy as the VC-10's though![]()
Someone say VC-10? (old pic):
I'm using a 5D Mark II. With a 1.4x you'll still get AF as the 1.4 only looses you one stop. There is a hit on iq but the 70-200f4 is so sharp and contrasty in the first place that you're not degrading it to such an extent that it becomes noticeable.
ok thanks, now just need to find a bargin on it. would 280mm(448mm on 1.6x crop cameras) be enough for genereal wildlife/bird photography?
I an looking at the canon 100-400 but it's £1200+ new, seen it for little under £900 used(v.good condition according to the description) last week(was looking at getting a general walk about or 70-200 f4l at the time, plus the ~£900 a little too high for me).

It's not really long enough unless you have mad ninja skills in stalking to get close to your target. I've been looking at the 100-400 as well but I'm tempted with the Sigma 150-500...
I don't think thats really the case for 1.6x crop users. 280mm with the crop factor is basically as long as us with a 300mm + 1.4x. Thats pretty long.
