Flickr Update: My first venture into InfraRed Photography

My first InfraRed... by Michael Yarde, on Flickr

I don’t really know how to process IR photos yet, so I just processed this one into black and white. This was taken in Wallsend Hall Grounds, which is a good location, so deffinately going to head back there, but need to remember to take wellies so that I can get into the river/stream!

Essentially thats what it is. Its just a nice little preset action you can download instead of manually doing it.

I've got it, thanks. But I just felt I got a bit more out of manually doing it. I just wish I could try and get the colour in the sky

Decided to brave the centre of town yesterday for a few Festival candids on the High Street. I only took my 80-200mm and it did alright for the mostpart, however, really wish I'd taken something a bit wider as well as it really was busy and hard to get a clear shot of anything in amongst the crowd. Also discovered that I lack the skill to stand on a bollard and then look through the lens without losing my balance and falling off.

Some great shots. WOuld have loved to be there, or another street cultural festival as a matter of fact. So many great oppotunities for candids. My last (only) one was Chinese New Year in Feb - loved it.

I don't count several shots of the same image. So if i take 10 shots of something but only keep 1 (after processing), that still counts as a 100% rate on that import. (if you get my drift).

Having said that, I might have exaggerated slightly but my point still stands that before i changed my work flow to use lightroom presets, i was getting very dishearten with my work and nearly gave up. After the change, things are all good baby :)

Oh, Love your work by the way. True talent.

Thank you :) I do try my best :)

I really don't know how to take these compliments, and i am getting more an more lately. (/embarrassed), I want to embrace it but i am a modest person by nature and I seldom talk about my work outside a client meeting.

Just go with the flow, Ray! Your work looks completely professional and awesome, so until we say otherwise, enjoy :D

Tried to get a reflection shot from some stuff oozing from the end of a lilly, it was however, too murky :( (can see my mothers birthday cards though ^^)

It was the british hillclimbing championship.

1500 Alfa's attended to celebrate 100 years of Alfa (although only 85ish of Alfa Romeo). So they had GTA's, GTV's, Giuletta's etc. etc. Then loads of classic Elans. Quite a few scoobies. Loads of 911's. You get 2L F3 cars, 2.6 V10 F2 etc. etc.

The after lunch, the Gould GR55's/GWR Predators etc. go out. 700BHP, 480KG, Slicks, faster to 124 than an F1 car. V10's and V8's. Mad things. Hit 140mph at the photo #7, and 110mph at image 10. Thats two car widths wide. :eek:Truly mad drivers and the cars are uber fast.

I'm quite pleased with the results considering the venue. (Always too high on the banking, never enough background. Only one car on teh hill at once, dullbackdrops, no sponsorship colours or barriers etc. etc.) The other nice thing about the weekend was I was under no pressure to get photos; I was free to experiment as such! So I shot jpeg. Set the WB manually and I think this weekend I've finally got the OOC jpegs where I want them to be, ready for print without touching (as you see here).
