I've been browsing the forums for months in the computer hardware sections, didn't realise there was a photography section, loving looking through the photo's so far, there's some crackers.

I'm not sure if mine will fit in or if there's a set theme to follow etc... i'll post some anyway.

I only got into it last year, so i'm still a beginner.

lovely pics there Buchanan, i too was suprised at first to discover to photog forum here and have found it to be a great source of advise & fun. The mods keep it on track & there are some very talanted contributors.

Thank's very much. I never thought I would get my computer and photgraphy fix from the one place. I love these forums :D

One of the great things about it is the lack of intervention it requires from the mods, there have been some robust disagreements and the odd argument but I can't recall a thread which required the mods to step in. All very civilised.

The photography tends towards technical excellence rather than artistic merit at times (for me anyway, though that's hardly surprising in a technically orientated forum maybe) but it's of a surprisingly high standard in general...

Looks suspiciously like a RAF Hawk cockpit (as in Red Arrows) so I'm guessing it's the RAF Hawk simulator at RAF Valley?

Yep you are quite right - It is HWTS2 (Hawk Weapons Trainer number 2) from the Hawk Synthetic Training Facilities (HSTF) at RAF Valley. Despite being in operation since 1998 and using the same database, the simulation is still regarded as state of the art and hyper-realistic by the RAF, especially the newbies who get spatial disorientation frequently.
How did I get the piccie? I'm the Engineering boss for the equipment there!!! :D

Not very good quality, but how often do you get to see Iron man, a storm trooper and others in the sea on Christmas day :D

Some really great shots here.

This is purposely not meant to be artistic or anything, just trying out the 500mm Samyang Mirror Reflex lens my parents bought me for christmas on the moon.

Just to note this was shot from indoors through a dirty window and it was foggy and cloudy outside.

I had not much luck with getting a good photo, is there any tips for shooting the moon?

Also some video of the moon with said lens..

a couple of bird shots from a local nature reserve, i added the vignette in post

Robin

Swan

Great detail and sharpness!

First time I've picked the camera up in about 5 months this weekend.

Looks good too. Used mine over Christmas but not really happy with mine. Other than that, not picked up mine up for around a month, which is a lot for me! I only really shoot when I plan something.

Fantastic first shots! :) Having said that, I wonder if cropping the sky a bit to the rule of thirs would make it have more impact. And on the second, maybe a tighter crop?
