The Predator (2018)

Having a little mini marathon of all of the Alien and Predator franchises. Predator 1 and Aliens (Alien II) of course being the best....

As like any self respecting movie buff, I like to study IMDB after watching any movie I enjoy.

I'm delighted to see this listed. Granted, it's a long way off but still

Didn't even know another Predator movie was in the works. Seems to me that lately with all the remakes/ reboots of classic 80s movies that Hollywood is churning out they must've run out of ideas. Loved the original Predator movie, the sequels... not so much.

Yeah. In my opinion, Iron Man 3 was complete tosh, so I don't have a great deal of hope this will be any good either.

Yeah considering they will no doubt try to shoot it as a 15 cert too

I've not watched any of the remakes e.g. Robocop, but how to they fare against their 80s counterparts?

I'm fairly sceptical because I watched the 1st Fast & Furious film, and I think I was trying to compare it with the Mad Max series too much. F&F relied on CGI somewhat. The Mad Max films though were pure stunts which made those more enjoyable to me IMO.

He also wrote the original Predator so it could be good!

I hope they decide to make it an 18 and ditch the CGI effects like the CGI blood etc for real practical effects.

Robocop 2014 was more of a reboot than a remake. Didn't follow the original plot of the first film all that closely, which was probably the right choice in my opinion, and was also significantly less bloody and violent. From memory I think it was rated a 12 but I might be wrong about that. Was an okay film overall, but don't think I'd want to watch it again.

Total Recall 2012 very closely followed the plot of the original, with some changes to the setting and characters. Quite a bad movie overall I think. Wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it.

It never felt like a cyborg film. Felt like a guy in an advanced suit until it all separates. Imagine seeing that for real.

It's one thing to see a human face on a robot body, it's another to see that same body being slow pulled apart bit by bit until all that's left is just a head and some organs. It really shows how the "Robocop" body has both freed Murphy and imprisoned him, saving him from death yet condemning him to live the rest of his life as a fragile little meatball bouncing around in a metal suit.

Although his little hand just kinda hanging around on the side does kill the mood a little.

yes kinda puzzled me that one seeing as im a big predator fan. :confused:

predator 2 was actually pretty good suited the times.

My guess is that this would be classed as Predator 1.5 in the series, rather than as a Predator 2 replacement.

Yeah, that scene was pretty disconcerting/ quite sad. Surprising that the film managed to avoid getting a 15 rating on the basis of that scene alone in my opinion.

Predator 2 is a guilty pleasure for me. I actually watched Predator 2 before seeing the original and I think it's a brilliant film. Probably seen it close to 10 times now

I can see why those that watched the original first cannot take the movie serious though. In the first movie you have an elite squad of commandos facing the Predator and in the 2nd movie you have well, Danny Glover....

Schwarzenegger is the deal breaker in Predator. He IS the movie, and without him the franchise seems a little dry.

Predator 2 is simply ok.......Danny Glover does an ok job, but its the last 30 minutes that kill it for me.

'I dont think he gives a ****' from the old lady and the shoehorned Xenomorph skull reveal pulled it apart.

I am obviously massively interested in this movie, especially with Shane Black on board, but without Schwarzenegger (he is too old now anyways)......it wont be as good in my opinion.
