The price of cinema tickets

Everyman. Not even central London. It's just inside the M25.

That's par for the course for them. There's one near me I've been to a couple of times, its nice but not for the price really. It's a bar/restaurant with a few cinema screens attached.

I found an independent Cinema recently in South Essex that charges a fiver to get in, half an hours drive. There's another one I think is a little bit more but I've not been to that's closer.

My local Vue is and has been £4.99 for ages if you buy online. £5.99 if you buy there (which is pointless, given people have phones with mobile data and can buy in the lobby "online").

Local Cineworld seems to vary depending on film and if it's a new release. I swear it didn't used to be £8.99 a ticket but the other day it was that for when Wicked came out. Something I noticed about Cineworld (I don't go a lot these days) is that the "screen" was filthy. Or the projector setup or lens or whatever. On scenes with sky, it was clear how much of a hazy, scratchy, dirty looking sky it was a d in other scenes. I've never quite seen it that bad. In fact now that I think about it, the image was not all that sharp and seemed quite dim. Perhaps we are all now so used to 4K and OLED pop, cinema screens seem grainy and dull blown up that big.

£5 per ticket in a lot of odeons. So sounds like prime are just offering you the same deal odeon offer freely to everyone

Well…my odeon charges everyone more than £5 outside office hours.

I also walk there in like 15mins so no parking required.

I’m not sure how another odeon in a different city is going to help me.

They sure are not charging £5 normally.

Yeah it's crazy. Not sure how they make a profit.

I only go to cinema for Imax style films. As often the sound is dire in non Imax and genuinely better at home.

Also, I've been to a few cold cinema experiences in last 2 years. Claiming heating is broken. But not sure if it's just to save costs. And it's horrible. More than one chain too.

It's every odeon I see local to me. Figured this was basically nationwide now other than london

I know it's not nationwide. I've only seen it where I live now.

Its a shame cinema is so "passive" an activity.
Because 5 pounds for a ticket and free parking for 4 hours is basically as cheap as you can get.

Indeed. Fantastic price imo. Not even worth getting the unlimited at that rate because there rarely is more than 4 films a month to see.

In my area I noticed cinemas started to be built just outside of town, and there were tons of food places around it, so it was perfect for an evening out. Free parking. Barely any actual walking from car to cinema. Loads of food places to pick from.
. But now the food places seem to be leaving and replaced with gyms or retail stores. Sad it's gone that way, I really enjoyed those nights out

This is identical to my cinema.

The site the cinema is in is becoming devoid of anything else.
Its a short walk to Cardiff Bay.

For our rare ultra cheap cinema nights it consists of..

Lloyd's vouchers at Imax (so comes down to 5 pounds for Imax each)
A trip to one of the pizza chains in town with tesco vouchers (so about 6 pounds each as drinks are excluded lol)
And free parking.

Get a nice afternoon and evening for under 20 each. Nice! :D
