*** The Proper 7950 GX2 owners Thread ***

I doubt the 7950 could cope with the extra heat resulting from a volt mod; maybe I'm being overly pessimistic.

I'll shortly be pairing a 7950 with an ASRock 939 dual data II, which isn't on the compatibility list. What do you reckon to my chances of getting this working right? I suspect I'll have problems and will have to change my mobo, but it's worth a shot.

I suppose there is only on way to find out about the heat increase.

I think in this weather it wouldn't be wise, but after summer... :D

I'll see how it goes.

Agent.

Yeah. My 7900GT went up by 5C when I did the volt mod some months ago. Seeing as these 7950s run relatively hot, a 5C increase at idle could translate into a significant increase (maybe even 10C) under load compared with default volts. My instinct says don't do it. (I certainly won't when I get my card, but I do intend to OC the hell out of it at default volts.)

Can someone please help me,do i need to change setting in my DFI Expert's bio's when using a 7950GX2

Thanks.

I ran 3D Mark 06 & scored 6810 3D marks which i suppose is about right for an FX-55 @ 2.8 ghz 1078 points :(
I also like my desktop set at 1280 x 768 on my Dell 2405 but it won't add this resolution for some reason.I also clicked the Nvida SLI club link & it said no SLI equipment installed?

Cheers bazza64,
I have compared it against other 7950 users and my HDR2 & HDR3 scores are the same so it look's like its CPU thats letting me down,i've had a Vapochill LS here for 3 months and haven't got the bottle to use it

Been having a look at the new Alphacool \ Club block for these beasts - anyone out there planning on getting one (quite expensive at £100ish)

That's what I've been waiting for!

Right...........time for a pair of these in preparation for a working iteration of Quad SLI.

Right you lot - the good people at Matrox have finally given SLi a reason for being with their rather clever little Triplehead to go. Thread Here

One of you must be interested - I'd love to know how these little cards stand up to 3480*1024 :D

The GX2 only just seems to handle the Dell 30" from what I have read- and thats a much smaller resolution.

You would need 2*GX2 to consider the kind of res you are suggesting (imho) unless nv's drivers have given a healthy boost since the reviews I have read have been released

It works fine for me with the ASRock 939 dual data II (1.2 Bios) so you should be ok, just make sure your power supply is up to it.

Can someone tell me please how loud is the standard cooler on the GX?

I don't think it's loud at all, with 2 x Panaflo 120mm case fans turned as far down as they go i can't hear the card's fans at all.

That's just what I wanted to hear. ;)

Another question, im thinking of getting a Gainward BLISS GeForce 7950 GX2 - do these clock as good as the rest of em?
I'd be happy if the GPU would clock to = 570MHz+ and the memory clock rate of 775MHz+ what do you reckon my chances are?

EDIT:

I think I found the link I was looking for http://www.rage3d.com/reviews/video/nvidia7950gx2/index.php?p=7

Actually the resolutions are similar (just a different shape) - the Triple Head 2 go has about 3.5m pixels and the Dell a smidge over 4m.

From TBird's results, this system runs beautifully on 2*7800GTX's (and they're only the 256Mb ones!) So on of these should be just as good - finally give a good excuse to run some outrageous resolutions!
