The R word

That's been debunked multiple times.

They are payed the bare minimum wage and the gang masters expect them to work like absolute dogs and meet a minimum speed.

They flat out won't employ British workers - plenty of people applied when they had that stupid "pick for Britain" campaign, and most Brits that applied never even had a reply.

"Brits are lazy"; "Brits won't work in the fields" - it's all rubbish.

It's a question of paying the bare minimum and getting labourers that work like machines for 12 hours a day and will put up with whatever treatment the gang master dishes out. Hence they import Romanian (etc) workers.

You shouldn't celebrate that - they treat these workers like dogs purely to keep food costs down.

I don't think you get to claim the moral high ground there.

No I agree, it is terrible yet the British wont pay the going rate for our food. Or clothes. hence the sweatshops around the country.

Its sadly being a race to the bottom in this country.

But you try and put into your next manifesto that you are going to get rid of sweetshops and migrant farm workers but everybody will have to pay 10 to 20% more for their food and clothes and the British public will vote for the other side. (not that the Tory govt would ever put that in their manifesto as its their party friends and donors who run all these sweatshops and big farms)

I hope things will change at some point. We absolutely do need to pay more for our food and clothes, and start producing them sustainably and ethically.

And if that means people will have to upgrade their phones every two years instead of every year, so be it :p

But yeah, I don't think it's a vote winner as a policy.

So just to be clear, the racist Tory party who hate foreigners are friends with the Asian owners of sweatshops in the likes of Leicester?

I get that neither of you are blessed with even average intelligence, but surely complaining about my using that phrase in response to this post is a bit daft, even for you.

Has there ever been a time in this forums history where the word racist/racism gets used so frequently, as it does now? It's cropping up in numerous SC and GD threads on a daily basis and even gets flung in elsewhere, often completely off-topic as some kind of point scorer.

Is it purely down to what's happened recently in the US and the BLM movement or are people truly becoming more openly racist again?

Only a racist would post this.

edit: forgot :D:):p

Just on the chance someone takes this seriously.

Low prices for british fruit/berries are only achievable when you have zero manual work force or pay (robots) or eastern europeans earning criminally low, illegal wages to take back with them to their nasty country. pay me £20 quid an hour to pick berries, id have a damn good go at it, but for a tenner a day.... right...

Sweden imports armies of dodgy eastern europeans and Thailanders every berry season. Whole communities come here for a few weeks filling up freight containers. Most are paid by the per/Kg.
There's a local news story of one guy here hiring 50+ Bulgarians, dumping them in an oid sub standard campsite, no water or electric and getting them to work as low paid slaves, including kids.
Its the way of globalisation and free movement.

Im a total hypocrite though ill still buy the cheapest and its usually not Swedish produced which comes at least a 100% price increase...
I am very conscious of it though. i've had more than one glare or passive aggressive tut when you buy foreign produced stuff over the Swedish alternative :P
1 quid a kilo tomatoes or 5 quid a kilo..... seriously? Its insane.

Which is why I find it so very odd that many people think migrant (farm, etc) labour is some kind of success story.

It's not. It's a testament to our willingness to exploit people.

Every country in the EU either does it or condones it. So much for level playing field. Spain's acres of greenhouses picked by north Africans on pittance wages, Bulgarians imported to pick fruit together with all the low paid economies. I am really pleased to be leaving even if it means some things are 10%+ more expensive.

Mine was a tongue in cheek comment, a throwaway line in regards to how people that are cut of the same ideological cloth as yourself see racism everywhere.

I'm sorry you hate the country of your birth though, maybe you should move to a more welcoming place. I hear China's nice this time of year.

Errr.... Isn't Leicester labour?

What I find perplexing about the whole racism, immigration etc thing, is how utterly pointless and how much of a waste of time it is.

In the grand scheme of the universe earth is nothing, humans even less so. Why do we spend so much time arguing about the colour of someone's skin, or telling people they aren't allowed to cross an arbitrary invisible human construct of borders and live where they want to? I mean if you go back far enough we all came from pretty much the same place anyway.

We're on borrowed time as it is; be that from some pandemic, someone nuking the planet, climate change, or the fact the sun is eventually going to burn up - wouldn't we be better to you know, work together as humans?

I'm not suggesting we get rid of all countries and borders, and I'm sure McstylisT will tell me it's some weird lefty view but, really, is it really all worth it?

Or the moon's gradual moving away for the earth.

Problem is it's a worldwide one ,mainly globalisation and the super rich screwing everyone.

World's crap ,black, white,Asian,Eskimos all are as bad as each other because we are all human and we are all the same in the head where it counts.

No race is better,or less racist or as destructive / caring/compassionate/environmentally friendly as the next.

Don't you just wish we had zombies? At least you know where you are with them.

Its only occasionally "open" and gets locked down and deleted by MODS really quickly thank god but it is prevalent on social media and other forums and even newspaper comments on stories.

There seems to be a few people on here who almost cross the line with their posts and I (maybe incorrectly) assume they are being super careful with their language choice so as not to get banned.,

+[anecdote]

That's the thing, if your perceived racism here is actually a result of your own mind reading of other's intentions/beliefs then it's pretty dubious.

It's not much good throwing in an anecdote about someone who actually is (apparently) a racist, he's very likely racist by his actions (I mean there is little to excuse that and you'd have perhaps mentioned it if there was another reason you knew of).

We've recently had a good illustration of how blinkerd some people are when they let opinion's of people whose views they don't like (in this case Boris) distort their perspectives so much that they're actively buying into conspiracy theories as the more likely explanation... apparently he was more likely to be on a yacht than camping etc...

Says the man that called the Chief Medical Officer a balding paedo on a public forum...... That remark could actually land you in a court of law.

most of what you sayt would land you in a court of law, appart from when you post to your goose stepping fanbois on stormfront.

You mention my name and I shall appear. :D
Though I have no idea why you mentioned me.

I tend to agree that in the grand scheme of things our little issues are pointless. As we are nothing of importance in the universe.

But then you go from grand scheme to humanitarian. That is a “moral” concept of ideology not grand scheme facts. A strange comparison.

The point is why we do live these lives we want the best for the ones we love and where we live. From any observation I can’t say the idea of multiculturalism has worked at all. It clearly doesn’t. We are just very different in our ways. To the extent where it’s becoming a woke I’m offended society before our very eyes. Where the white ideological’s are playing to the woke ideological’s theme song.
So your described view of a modern world isn’t one I would like for my children’s futures or even live in. Personally speaking and I’ll do all I can to stop that becoming reality. It’s very clear people have now “woken up” so to speak and I feel it’s just been oppressed to much and it will now backfire.

It takes time for people to integrate. Especially those who have lived in a country where there is nothing but people like them.

When I went to India the second time I went to a very small village out in the middle of nowhere and someone thought I was white. I can assure you that that albeit fair skinned you can tell I'm not white from a mile away.

Ideally you need to hve been born here and gone to school here for you to be fully integrated or from a country with similar people.

I can also see that some members of a certain religion don't integrate as well. Not all of them but some and that is a big issue.

Minimum wage has had a huge impact on those just above them.

I mean you have people with degrees doing professional jobs earning £10k-£15k less per year because those at the bottom are getting huge pay rises all the time so nothing left for the people above them.

I posted some figures in a thread a month or two ago and the percentages were staggering. I think someone at the bottom had a circa 30-40% rise in wages over the past 12 years and someone 2 levels above had 8% over the same 12 years. If that continues. Then you will have professionals earning minimum wage. As the bottom is moving so fast and the people just above are getting below inflation wage rises which is a real world wage cut year on year. They get poorer and those below are much better off even though they are doing a job anyone could do vs a proper professional with proper training and qualifications.
