The RAC have lost my car.

That's funny, on the contrary I've found Aviva really good when I've dealt with them.

Admiral were diabolical, as were More Than.

With esure it's almost impossible to talk to a person in claims, on my last claim they wrote my car off and sent me a cheque straight after I logged the claim online for a door dent. I somehow managed to get through to one of their engineers after I'd bought a new car and he said they never should have wrote it off but it actually worked out better for me in the end as I got more for the car than it was worth.

I'll echo this, over about 8 years, been through 2 write offs (one wasn't our fault) and another minor collision - all dealt with promptly, cordially, respectable payouts that aligned with the vehicles on the write offs and kept informed every step of the way.

I had to get onto live chat for some information around November and despite having not been with them since May, they were quick to help and gave all the information required quickly and sent what was required through to email in less than 24 hours.

Had they not insisted on a significant rise last May, would have stuck with them.

I've actually had good results with Admiral, so far. The only negative I've experienced is some family/friends having Admiral put their insurance up like 300-700% out of the blue for no apparent reason and only "able" to knock about 10% off that, despite everywhere else being if anything slightly cheaper than what the person was paying before.

The RAC will have a headache when they find a stolen, insurance write-off in their possession. I wonder what they will do with it and say to the police when it eventually gets noticed.

I'll never take insurance through Admiral or any of it's other companies again. They cancelled my insurance without notifying me when they claimed they couldn't take my direct debit. There was plenty in the account so unless I could get my bank to provide a letter saying they were at fault (surprise, they wouldn't) they refused to even take a card payment or re-apply to my bank. The worst thing is they did all this via letter which took 5 days to arrive. I was without insurance for five days thanks to their admin issue and could have been stopped and my car seized by the police!

I'd rather have the car back to be honest. It's worth more to me than its monetary value. Yes, it's a 15-year-old CR-V but I've had it 10 years but it's FSH and we have always proactively replaced parts. The engine is sweet, it just needs a new clutch master cylinder (which is what caused the breakdown).

Was going to ask if perhaps an insurance payout might be preferred....but yeah, sometimes a car is worth much more than it's monetary value.

Yea this.

Also hate to say it but your insurance premium might go up, and you may struggle to replace your car like for like so end up out of pocket anyway.
