The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

Hmmm, didn't think of undervolting

I wish AMD would just show their new GPUs and prices so I knew what to do, I've a feeling its a long while off before end users actually get hold of anything though

Just noticed this it rarely happens but sometimes when I boot up I notice when GPU is idle the mhz is really low but if i restart it will go back to 800mhz idle most of the time it boots up and its 800mhz but rare times its not

I have the Sapphire NITRO+ RX 5700 XT SE

If I start gaming it will crash the overclock I applied

Most of the time it starts like this and runs fine with Overclock

Just wondering if anyone else came across this and what idle do most have ?

Thanks

Yeah think it's normal chaps mine does the same. Might be higher if you have browser acceleration enabled and a video playing, or if more than one monitor or a very high refresh rate.

I do run it on 1440p 240hz monitor if that makes any difference but find it strange sometime boots up its idle 6mhz but most other times it boots up and idles 800mhz

I don't get a option to turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in windows only option I see is the variable refresh rate option. My windows and drivers are up to date and my card is gigabyte aorus 5700 xt, just wondered if this is normal or not for my card ?

Hey @LtMatt can you believe I got this thicc ****er into an NZXT H200
Not familiar with the case, post a pic?

*Literally* not a mm to spare...

You need to use the beta 20.5.1 drivers which you can download here.

This feature has not made its way to non beta driver versions yet.

Make sure you test with it on and off... seems mixed results from what I've seen... think it's more one for the future rather than today that feature... just my opinion though.

I watched a YT video saying it has improved a lot with the latest windows update with AMD Cards so going to test it. I heard there use to be a issue with running the windows variable refresh rate at the same time but not sure If that's still true or if I even need that feature for any games I play so will leave that off.

After 2-weeks' ownership of my MSI Gaming X, I noticed higher than usual fan speed and very high hot-spot temps. Temps were far cooler last-week, so I contacted the reseller who informed me that 110deg temps were "normal". Anyway, after clarifying with MSI about the tamper-sticker I decided to replace the thermal-paste with Kryonaut. MSI said that removing the tamper-sticker does NOT void warranty, but will result in MSI inspecting any returned cards for "user damage", should it ever need RMA. They also said that I could return the card to them for repair/replacment, but it would take 4-6. As the card is a good-one in terms of overclocking, I did not want to risk having it replaced.

After replacing with Kryonaut

My card is installed within an MATX case, so not the best airflow. Paste-replacement has given a worthwhile drop in edge-temps, plus a huge drop for the hot-spot.
*Before: 79deg Edge, 111deg Hot-spot
*After: 75deg Edge, 93deg Hot-spot

Wins of -4deg and -18deg respectively. The gap would have been even bigger had the card not been throttling at 111deg.

Anyway, I will keep a close eye on temps to see whether the issue reoccurs. If it does then I will perform the washer-mod, as I supect poor clamping-pressure rather than poor OEM paste.

what are you using to test (and settings)
I used F1 2019 for above tests. 1440P, ultra-settings , played for around an hour each time.

I have found F1 to push temps higher than any other game I own. It gives about 4-5deg higher temps than Heaven, Valley, and Superposition loops.

edit: Below is a Valley loop I was running just before you asked the question.
