The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

I changed the Thermal Compound on my ASRock Challenger D with some MX4 i had lying around.

My Hot Spot temps are down 15c, its still a 25c difference from Junction Temps but it was 30c, those temps are now in the low 70's, i have allowed more volts and more Mhz and Hot Spot temps are still cooler, around 95c down from 108c, its now boosting up to 2075Mhz.

The original Compound was so thin i could see the die cap through it, there was hardly anything on it.

Great result bug well worth it.

Yeah i'm surprised how much difference its made, but then again maybe not once i took the cooler off and saw how little Thermal Compound was on it, i did think it was a little odd given the GPU doesn't actually use much power, its under 200 Watts.

I kinda wish AMD had not given us access to monitor Hot Spot temps, i know Nvidia don't, it just makes me worry about it seeing it in the high 90's or low 100's before changing the compound, the Edge temps are in the low 70's and if that was it, if that's all it reported like Nvidia it would look pretty good.

LOL i have to agree, AMD are their own worst enemy at times. No doubt their will be consumers comparing that junction temp directly to what nVidia cards run at and making that a major part of deciding which they are purchasing.

That too defiantly yes, if you have to explain why it only looks worse than your competitor you've already lost them....

Do a lot of you actively monitor this stuff? I just set my OC/UV if I'm altering that, validate it (with temps during validation), and leave it be unless something is clearly wrong.

I have an OSD on/off keyboard shortcut set, (Left Alt + Page Up) usually i validate it for a few sessions or an hour or two in each game i play and then turn it off.

Hi, I dont know why this happens If I start my PC if been off for awhile the Sapphire Nitro+ se is very low idle 7mhz etc which is fine because it only boosts up when needed but it crashes with the Overclock but in stock its fine

But If I restart the PC it starts idle 800mhz and the overclock runs fine no crashes why does this happen ?

Its like if i start my PC from cold boot it starts with very low idle mhz all I have to do is restart and it will be 800mhz idle which wont crash with overclock

When I reboot it comes up with the following and no crashes with OC

Finished my loop including the 5700 XT a few weeks ago but been busy with my work slowly returning to normal. My happiness is overshadowed by the 3070 launch tho.

P:S. I've still got the extra GPU block so if interested, feel free to get in touch.

That's a beautiful setup - you should be proud of that.

Very nice build.

All white PCI-E blanking plates would work better, other than that fantastic work.:)

Joining the 5700xt club for a while. Mate of mine built his new system and didn't want to get a card before the new ones arrived so took my vega 64 for a 5700xt since he owed me some money. I'll wait and see how the new AMD cards stack up against the 3070 before I do anything but I only really play VR games on the PC and it's playing Half Life Alyx beautifully so I'm happy.

I have been testing the reference card with the new loop: Reference for whoever might find this useful
Radeon Software Version 20.5.1 (I know there are later revisions)
Pump DDC3.1 at 30% RPM
Coolant is distilled and deionised water
Rad fans 30% Arctic P12 3 Push and 3 Pull
Max stress i can put via Furmark/game rendering like grass scenes etc 100% GPU usage for 10 mins
Jcn Temp 54
Overall Temp 41
Case has no glass panels atm cause I'm waiting for clear coolant to arrive and noise I can't measure but really quite to my hearing
