The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

I saw someone with a Toxic using that block on overclock.net. Think they were based in the states though so perhaps they ship there @uksoldierboy ?

I think my current Toxic would love a proper water block given how it can run 2800Mhz locked in games using just the stock AIO.

This is my thinking matt, mines happy running 2660-2760 in games, just really fancy a custom loop again too.

Hello 6900xt owners :) thinking of picking up djays 6900xt in the MM.

I plan to downgrade my 5800x to raise more funds to get a more powerful gpu, 1440p+ barely seems to touch this processor.

What would be the lowest you guys would say to pair with a 6900xt? Someone has offered me a 2600, but feel like a 3600 upwards would probably allow it to work to its full potential?

Or how about an i7 9700?

Thanks :)

The 6900 XT is the fastest graphics card out there in non RT scenarios. I would not recommend anything less than a 5600X or one of the Intel new Alder Lake CPUs to ensure you don’t encounter too many CPU limited scenarios. As you already have a 5800X, I would stick with what you have - if possible.

Thats fair enough, I may just wait until payday in that case then :D

What matt said Defy, I moved from a 1080ti to my Toxic 6900xt and the performance leap was amazing, but my 8700K @5.0 was holding me back so much, I was only when moving to a 12600k was the true performance unleashed, especially with Resizeable bar enabled.
I'd highly recommend sticking with that 5800 anyway you can.

6900 XT Warzone Pacific Caldera - YouTube

he sure doesn't like 6900xt's in multiplier titles (low fps vs 3090)
He really hates AMD.

It looks to me like a local system issue, since I recognise this fella from my YouTube comments and I know he has a 6900 XT Toxic/3090 and plays those games.

Nonetheless gonna download Warzone tonight and see if I can figure out what area he is in, what settings he is using and what resolution he is running to see if I can reproduce it.

His system is definitely underperforming, so looks like a local system issue. I get 30% better performance (167 FPS vs 218) on at the same spot, 1080P low settings. FPS does fluctuate a bit in this area, but didn't see it go below 200FPS.

This screenshot was captured when recording video, recording cost around 5FPS.

GPU utilisation is around 50-70% for the most part so very CPU limited at this resolution/settings. GPU overclock also does not improve FPS due to the CPU limit.

However, the game runs very smoothly without any issues. It looks absolutely horrible though, not gonna lie. Can upload the video to YouTube if there is any interest.

I suspect an Alder Lake CPU would see higher GPU utilisation/performance in this area given its IPC advantage.

Video recording of that scene.

I've asked this user to upload a video showing the settings used that a 3070 TI gets more FPS in Caldera, since I did some research on YouTube into Caldera FPS on various GPUs and found that even a 3090 gets less FPS than a 6900 XT, never mind a 3070 TI. I am now genuinely curious how he finds the 3070 TI to be faster than the 6900 XT in Caldera. It has to be a local system issue.

3090 at the same settings and using a 5800X.

EDIT - He won't be uploading the video and threatened me with a channel ban, so there goes that idea.

Some of the comments on that video are hilarious.

Oh the problems.
Yeah the Mine area is pretty bad, I see as low as 140fps with a 3080

wonder who got this reply ? Seems to ignore other requests for what settings he uses. Video guy is a bit touchy.

only supporters get to request videos, I will not reply to this thread further, any more attempts at bothering me will result in a ban. If your happy I’m happy. I really don’t care that much, go play a game.

He should really rename the title slagging AMD and AMD Fanboys its ridiculous. Complaining about the AMD cards dropping to 200fps and saying its a fail. At the high FPS you are not going to notice any difference on the smoothness of the game between say 185fps and 275fps. From about 8 mins onwards just complete misinformation and bias.

Yeah I didn't want to get banned so left it, but I wish he would have clarified what settings he was using and been a bit more transparent about it though.

He was streaming last night and re-tested. Once he enabled SAM his FPS basically rocketed back up to 300fps for the most part, and like 240fps lows. He still had a hard time eating humble pie. 6900xt is a beast of a card.

Yeah looking back through his videos he doesnt like AMD at all so its hard to take someone seriously when there is a bias running through. 10k subs small fry yeah ? :)

Just laughable when he starts going on about it dropping to 190fps is a fail and the cards dont work.
Yes the competitive gamer folk can be a bit weird about FPS in these games.

That's good to hear. I wonder why he didn't just admit that in the comments and if he will do a follow up video.

It's okay to put your hands up and say you got something wrong, we all make mistakes.

I notice the resident forum debunker was not correcting this mistake though, @gpuerrilla.

I don't get the hate, I really don't.

And that's the thing he kept saying, he's 'not being bias' because he's legit trying to game on an AMD but it's obvious he's hating on it. Once he enabled SAM, you can see he was like oh ****, but instead of saying yea ok I was wrong in my youtube vid as he didn't enable SAM, he was saying it was still **** and not competitive enough as it was dropping 240fps lows occasionally but I'd say 80-90% it was maxing at 300fps. And then proceeded to say how nvidia 'just works' and a 3070ti is 300fps max all the time ... lol
