The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Took delivery of a Red Devil, was suspicious when both seals were open. No protective rubber on the PCI-e terminals.
Tried my luck with the FE dealer and God, never again.
The card is a beast performance wise, but the coil whine was the worst I ever noticed on a GPU.
After two days arguing with the dealer, who tried to strong arm, I managed to get a collection booked. Tomorrow I’ll send the GPU back and taking delivery of a lesser 6800XT from Overclokers. £400 cheaper at this point seems a good deal. back to the 6900XT, I was pleasantly surprised with it scoring 19200 on air and no overclock, while the 3090 on water and overclocked only scored 17800.
Really gutted sending the GPU back, but even at a discount, I wouldn’t risk an open box for a £1400+ GPU, even at discounted price.

The 6900XT isn't worth £400 more than the 6800XT anyway, ditto the 3080/3090 premium. So alls well that ends well.

The 6800xt haven’t either. Last few GPUs I bought had, so I was suspicious, as the open seals were clearly tampered with. the 6800xt from Overclockers was sealed, as expected, minimum coil whine (only noticed when maxing out on Heaven.
The only disappointment is spend over a grand and no more haribo.

Just got my 6900 yesterday, honestly was expecting better out of the box experience on Warzone but after doing research it seems that not only 6000 series but rtx 3000 series seem to suffer from micro stutters...no idea why my 2070s did not have these but that was only getting around 80-110 fps

I'll continue to work through the long list of fixes online and see if any work, it's not like the game is unplayable it runs brilliant 90% of time then you get the odd stutter for a second or two then back to normal

I don't think it happens on other games although I have not really got anything else installed that's overly demanding

If anyone has had same experience here and figured it out let me know what you did would be great

My system is:
I7 10700k
Tuf 6900xt
16gb ram
Corsair hx850w platinum - connected to gpu using 2 cables on different rails of psu

Overclock the memory to 4000+ and the cache the 4700.

There's a real chance having 16GB system Ram isn't cutting the mustard. If you use the Radeon overlay in game you can check what is been used. Adding another 16GB or grabbing a 32GB kit would be a good plan for the system in general running at 6900XT.

Your CPU could be a problem. Here's how Warzone runs on a 5950X at 4K max and low settings.

Here is something you can try, which might help your CPU and improve general Warzone performance. Recommended to put the CPU worker thread count to half the number of cores your CPU has.

So with a 5950X the default value is 16. Put that to 8. Intel says you have a 8 core CPU, put that to 4 in the value highlighted below and see if it helps.

Before I recorded the videos above, I did perform the steps listed here. But that is just standard issue reproduction behaviour, since you try to rule out any software/hardware issues before you test an issue. You want a clean system and everything running at stock. My 6900 XT was running 400Mhz slower on the core clock than it normally does for example.

Don't feel too bad though, so many users report stuttering in Warzone from both vendors. It's just a problematic game for a lot of people.

Good suggestion, Warzone loves video and system memory.

@LtMatt
Going to try and do a quick God of War video when I get 5 mins.
O11D Evo are now in stock so my re-case will slowly start to take shape over the next month. GPU mount and mesh front aren't due til Feb though.
Good video here comparing native vs FSR.

General consensus amongst gamers using it seems to be not much difference between native > FSR /Quality-Ultra Quality - if you need the extra frames.

I've not played it yet, but will do at some point in the future.

Looks about right. I did a very quick look yesterday and found low 70's on the tree cutting screen with 4K max (as in not the ultra preset as its not max lol (one has ultra+ in the settings) so custom all maxed out). With FSR Ultra quality giving you another 20fps ish.

Thankyou I did notice it often hovers around 14-15gb

I will try the memory overclock and core count now also

I have a mag tomahawk z490, currently using 2x 8gb corsair 3600mhz c18 I believe
Cheap and cheerful:
▷ Patriot Viper Steel 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-28… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Or add a 2nd kit (check it's the same model (CMK16GX4M2D3600C18)(CMK16GX4M2Z3600C18) there's a few different ones so the chips can be different)
▷ Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-2… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Or if you don't mind manually tweaking and want a high end kit without going bankrupt something like this:
▷ Team Group 8Pack Edition 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 P… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Just a few ideas for you.

So my usual ingame metrics are these:

Gpu util 90-95%
Cur temp 60c
Junction 70c
Vram util 15-16gb
Gpu mclk 1988mhz
Ram util 13-14gb
Cpu util 30-40%

While the stuttering happens there is a change in the coil whine noise also like the noise also stutters I don't know if that means anything (the coil whine is fairly low apparently that's fairly normal for new cards)
